What's the point of even using Light Armor
What's the point of ever using Light Armor (especially thru the entire game)?
-You constantly need to repair Light Armor so that it doesn't get destroyed permanantly.
-The Ninja garb gets you +Parry bonuses, but the Imperial Armor does just the same. The Ninja belt with its +3Parry is nice, but is Parry better than AC, in the end? Wouldn't something like the Imperial Belt (+6AC, +1Parry) be better than the Ninja Belt (+3AC, +1Strike, +3Parry)?
-Every character starts off with the option to raise Medium Armor...even if they do not have "learning bonuses" to armor...which means it just takes a little more ADV points to raise Medium Armor.
-I'm a little perplexed as why this game started all characters (mage, fighter, rogue, adapt) with medium armor options. Even when I wanted to make Light Armor characters, roleplaying as a mage or a ninja...one feels tempted to just put points into Medium Armor to get the Imperial Armor setup for its higher AC value and its nice +Parry bonuses. And this gets very old having the same outfits for each of my characters, but it seems to be the most efficient setup where you easily can get those articles of clothing (shopping from the Eastern-House or from chests)...and it seems to be the best defense in the end, compared to light armor.
That's just my take. Does anyone else feel this same way? I keep playing this game as I do enjoy it, but things like this...do slightly irritate me.

What's the point
What's the point of even playing any game with things you don't care for. Even simple as Dungeon Lords is, I welcome little things such as constantly having to keep my equipment in good condition. H***, it's like having an automobile that you get ticked off about because you don't like having to keep it in good running condition. Just don't drive. Nothing is PERFECT

Even the Imperial armor constantly takes damage.. The only armor I have never seen take any damage is the death lord plate.. I don;t mind repairing my armor but it does get dangerous when your surrounded by moonbeasts and your armor is about to give out...That's why I always carry spare armor with me... lol

I'm just slightly annoyed from the roleplaying aspect. Usually knights, warriors, fighters are characters who specialize in armor/weapon repair in the rpg games that I have always played, but I find it funny that with characters that have Heavy Armor (warrior tiers/Battlemage tier)...you never need to repair your equipment with the Repair Skill. (I just pay the shopkeeper scants amount of gold pieces to fix up minor damage on my medium/heavy equipment).George_K wrote:What's the point![]()

I find that Light Armor does not really make much sense in the efficient department in this game...as it gets damaged quickly...and you need many points into repair skill to maintain everything. And having to pull each piece of armor out to use the repair skill is a bit silly, imho.
I mean its another novel concept, like the nether katals...but, like the nether katals, its inefficiency outways the aesthetics department...*just a tad-bit*.

Best non-relic Light Armor in game can only be worn by females:
Bladewitch Pro Magic Light Armor
Armor +8
Pro Magic 20%
+Parry 4
Dmg 500/500
Problem is, the Assassin Garb is Medium Armor that gives:
Armor +10
+Parry 10
Dmg 400/400...
...seems to be better, imho...for all characters who lack the Heavy Armor skill.
And even if Bladewitch Pro Magic Armor has more damage to take than Assassin Garb...all light armor still seems to fall apart faster than medium/heavy armor...no matter how much damage it can take.
Does anyone really use Light Armor. I usually even get my Mage characters even those with no "Learning Bonuses" in Armor, the Medium Armors.
Chainmail Boots/Gloves become usable at level 2 Medium Armor.
Chainmail Chest, Chainmail Pants Samurai Shoulders, Imperial Boots, Dragon Gloves, Grim Helm all become usable at level 4 Medium Armor.
Samurai Kabuto and Imperial Helm become usable at level 5 Medium Armor.
It's not hard to get Medium Armor up to level 5 even with no "Learning Bonuses". So what is the point of Light Armor?
If Armor had better modifiers on them, this game would be more interesting.
It's too bad the equipment in this game fell short of my expectations. This game either had too much potential...or I gave it too much credit of having potential.
Well, so much for light armor.
*Also, what's up with the Templar Shoulders (+5Armor, Heavy Armor)? You can get Plate Shoulders (+8Armor, Heavy Armor) in Fargrove/Arindale/ Skulldoon weapon/armor shops, in many treasure chests, can be stolen/dropped by Renegade Urgoths.
*Druid Armor is stupid...as it cost more points in Light Armor skill...when you might as well just put those points into Medium Armor skill to get Chainmail equipment. Mage armor should have stats on it that increase magic skills or something like that. Lots of other armor in this game that I could complain about as well. More armor needed mods on them. Imperial Armor set (dragon gloves included) is about one of the only good medium armors in this game.
I just got to say this game was poorly put together. Not much thought was put into the equipment and how to structure it evenly throughout the gaming experience. I'm sorry, I'm just disappointed that ppl can call themselves professionals and make claim to making a great game...when the game came out this well underdone/unfinished/neglected/bugged. It's kind of insulting to the gamers. *sigh*
[Any updates on a patch for this game to give it some spunk...oh, and to fix the bugs]? I don't know how much longer I can delude myself into thinking that I like this game anymore.

Edit# I forgot about the Kasa of Dreams, Kasa of Day, and Kasa of Night. They seem very impressive...it's just that I've never found them. Must be towards the end of the game. Its too bad, HP didn't develop more of each item. Like many different kinds of Kasas throughout the entire game. It would have given more options to outfit our characters and give us choices to be creative with our characters.

I think that a lack of variety and imagination when it comes to equipment is a DW Bradley hallmark.
I really liked Wizards & Warriors, but the equipment was bland and every character ends up with the same stuff. At least in W&W there was an option to enchant or bless the armor/weapons. Really about the only way to get a really god item in that game.
So, I honestly don't think that DWB EVER puts much effort into equipment.

With regard to the Light Armor...I just run around in my undies until I have decent Medium Armor. After all, as long as I have a shield, the benefits from Light Armor are almost nil until late in the game and Heavy rarely needs to be repaired.
Also, I have noticed that when I wear Heavy Armor, I rarely get poisoned or stunned (except by those darn bees!).

Light Armor And Dual Weapons
Brindall is a Human Female Character in DLCE 1.5
Brindall is the sole survivor of the Royal Family 'Brindall'. An older brother prince, an older sister princess, the Queen Mother and the King of the calderan land of Brindall were slain in an assault by the Goblin Hordes. The Brindall Royal Family has reigned in peace and harmony with the people of the calderan land for more than a thousand years unbroken monarchy. Brindall becomes Queen of Brindall and challenges everyone in the calderan land to the tests of skill and combat which a member of the Royal Family had always dominated in their long reign of peace and prosperity. Her purpose was to send forth the greatest warrior in the land to determine the reason for the assault on Brindall and its people.
In the end, Brindall Queen of Brindall, proved to be the best warrior in the land and set out on her quest....
What she found was raging war not against Brindall, but other monstrous peoples. After she meets a friendly traveller, now her quest unfolds day by day...
This character is at Level 24 with 15 million experience and has been using the same Light Armor since the beginning. I've had great expectations for picking up more Armor, but so far, only shields, swords, bows, knives and helmuts. How does a character acquire gloves, shoulder pads or other Armor pieces?
Skills: Light Armor 11
Medium Armor 9
Light Weapons 10
Medium Weapons 10
Repair 8
Parry 11
Also, I've been raising the weapons and armor skills in an attempt to gain the ability to acquire more items, but it doesn't look promising after 15 million experience. I've had 'Dual Weapons' since Level 1, but I have no 'Dual Weapons' Medallion on my Skills Panel. Is dual weapons the same as light weapons and medium weapons for the human female? Can someone explain this, please? I have Light Weapons, Medium Weapons, Light Pole, Thrown, and Archery medallions in the top row of my Skills Panel. I don't have a Dual Weapons.

If you don't find certain types of armor (which seems odd), you shuold always be able to go into a shop and buy some.
Dual weapons is a skill only certain classes receive.

I really had to post to compliment you on your very creative background story for your character. I like to think up a few things to make the character more real for me, but nothing so extensive as your story. Kudos to you.
Just as a quick note; the only benefit gained from raising armor skills is to eliminate penalties. So, if the light armor requires a skill level of 7 for example then all you would need to do is raise your light armor skill to 7. This is taking into consideration that your character already meets the strength required. If you continue raising armor past the skill level needed then you are spending points that could be better put to use, say for intelligence or strength. Medium armor is better to spend points on as well. Also, as mentioned you can buy some basic armor right in Fargrove or in Arindale and Skuldoon. Fargrove is probably the cheapest.
This explains what classes get which weaponry skills:

Acquring Armor
Brindall, Queen of Brindall
Human Female Character DLCE 1.5
The calderan lands of Brindall lay beyond the 'Deep Abyss' (Maps Edge; ERROR: RESET GAME). The land was settled by a band of survivors of the great cataclysm befalling the world millions of years ago. An asteroid shower rained upon the world cracking it's crust and sending forth oceans of mantle lava and giving rise to great volcanoes. Century after century past and the crust mended and the volcanoes waned into dormancy. Life began to sprout here and there but, monstrously altered and dangerously different than the scrolls depicted of the Ancients.
The Ascetic Mystics who ruled the growing human population of the calderan land of Brindall used ancient magic to envelope Brindall in a Mystic Cloak so that the monsters from the new age could not detect or enter the Brindall caldera. A Royal Family was chosen 150,000 years ago by the Ascetic Mystics and trained in the Ancient Arts and Governance. The Mystics retired to the Palace Temples, rarely seen or heard.
This character has not been to a town or settlement since the beginning of the game. When she went into Fargrove, there were no structures trees or people or shops or anything. Fargrove was just a big open field of grasses with the usual monsters everywhere. Yet, on the Map Legend (Select M key in DLCE 1.5) it shows structures and the temple and other things. She went to the MoonBridge in one of the northern lands as well. It appeared just fine.
The temple ruin in the grove outside Fargrove gates with the fire seem fine as well. I was assuming this character was cursed or magically damaged in some way and it might wear off. She has been caught in quicksand and has been spelled a number of times. She walked like a mummy for a brief period and the like.
What's wrong with that picture? Any comments would be appreciated. A character can't hardly enter the game if it can't get to the temple at Fargrove. Anyway, at least this one reason may exist for using Light Armor - because I can't get any other armor. This game may quickly fade from favor.

I think what happened is you did not enter the city correctly. From the starting area in the forest, there is a road to the city. You should have gone to the gate and spoken to the guard. He would have told you the gates were locked because Lord Davenmore's daughter had gone missing and this would have started an encounter that would have led to you finding the correct way in.
The only thing that I can think happened is you climbed over the mountain right by the city gate and went down into the big field. This is not a "real" area in the game ( I did it once...but I have been playing this game since July, so I knew what to expect. I saved my game, went over, explored and exited because there is NO way into Fargrove from that area.) You can try to go over back into the forest, but sometimes there is no way to do that. You can climb an area and when you get to the other side you are stuck. There are areas in the forest where it is possible to climb over into habited land and enter Fargrove through the South gate (the Skuldoon "side" of Fargrove) but I don't think it is appropriate to get into that as it isn't normal game play.
No wonder you have been frustrated. There is no creature in the forest that will drop armor, at best you may find a belt or some gloves in one of the chests. Try reading this here:
http://www.gamebanshee.com/dungeonlords ... forest.php
I am sorry, I think unless you can find a way back into the forest from that field you will have to start over. Give the game a chance though and don't get discouraged. It has some bugs and flaws but can also be lots of fun.
*edit* BTW, your character is not cursed, something has gone wrong in your game but hopefully it can be corrected. I am not sure what you mean by she was 'walking like a mummy", and how you could have found a moonbridge or been caught in quicksand. I have never seen quicksand in the game at all. At any rate, Fargrove is most assuredly not a big field, so try reading the walkthrough regarding entering Fargrove and hopefully that will help.

Quicksand And MummyWalk Spells
The character was attacked by five Goblin Ballista which had with them a band of twelve freeroaming Goblins with bows swords and daggers all. The Ballista is a heavy weapon piece on a cart looking remarkably like an ancient Roman chariot which fires an enormous arrow. A Goblin uses two handles in the rear to walk the cart across the terrain, stops, aims and fires the arrow. These Goblin Ballista often carry the Cure Potion and gold.
After striking down one of the Ballista and attempting to pick up the gold and potion, my character sunk into the ground up to the top of the boots. When the character attempted to jump out of this she sunk up to her knees. She could not move forward, backward, or jump by any means. Then dozens of snakes moved in on her position...
This lasted for about five or six seconds... an eternity of combat. The Ballista cart was cursed with a spell which I hit the shift key and picked up. Since that event I've waited to pick items up when the cart has faded away. So far so good!
Another event was a spelled arrow from a Goblin bowman. My character was struck by the arrow and turned to run toward and attack the shooter. My character could only move slowly with stiffened legs and arms (maybe like a robot to some players). If you encounter the 'Undead Mummy' characters you'll see exactly what I mean. My character moved just like them for about four seconds until it wore off. I didn't try a heal potion or anything. As a matter of fact, it happened to my character again just last night. It's a spelled arrow from a Goblin bowman for certain. The Undead Mummy is where I get the Bone Dust for Nether Spells. Skeletons do not have bone dust as the moderators report.

I have no idea what is causing those issues with your game. My boyfriend has been playing the game for over a year and I have since last July (and we have together and singly played every area in the game almost to the end sequence) and neither of us has encountered any thing like what you are describing, nor is there any mention of spelled arrows or the like in the walkthrough...at least not that I have noticed. As I have already mentioned ways to rectify the situation to the best of my knowledge, I am not sure what else I can contribute. Good Luck, I hope things work out for you.

The point is that if you put points into armours you neglect your other skills. A mage does not need armour and his mage skills will always be lagging behind. A mage needs his mage skills as high as possible, not armour. Also, dungeon lords is a "low magic" world. The equipment is not supposed to be uber magical but rather ordinary. Much of the game a player wears ordinary stuff. It isn't like diablo where the whole concept is to "gear up" with magical loot. When I made my mage I didn't develope any armour at all.
