Very recently I was smoking weed and going through the old BG portraits, there was Kiwan, there was Minsc, Edwin and...The Bald Dude. The Bald Dude, you guys now whom I thinking right? The only not-present-in-any-part-of-the-game male character. The one with the moustache and a skull on his chest-belt. So there I was staring at his portrait and suddenly I noticed something. There is an huge "L" on his forehead. "L" as a Looser. Go check this out and tell me am I hallucinating? I did check that portrait morning after, and evening...and the next morning. The huge "L" is still there. Or is it?
I allso checked the female equivalent of that charackter and found nothing out of the ordinary (well besides the obvious fact that she is ugly as hell). So now I'm left wondering is it and inside joke by designers? a funny adition that comes with the Easytutu or I just so realy badly wanna see that "L" there that I am imagining this.
You guys have seen it too...I know you have...tell me I'm not alone.
The bald dude!

I don't see an L on that guy's forehead.
Dungeon Crawl Inc.: It's the most fun you can have without 3 midgets and a whip! Character stats made by your's truly!
That bald guy is known as "MAN1" in the .BMP files. I think he's supposed to represent Abdel the "Sellsword" who appeared in the Baldur's Gate novels. As for the "L", I see what you're talking about if you're referring to the vertical scar that intersects the horizontal wrinkle on his forehead. However, it's sort of like the optical illusion: you don't see it unless you look for it, but once you see it, it stands out at you.
WOW! I find it hard to believe that there's actually something left over for me to answer after yet another VonDondu's contribution!

He is not the only not-present-in-any-part-of-the-game male character. There's at least another one (the one with the long-thick whiskers).kapitalizma wrote: The Bald Dude, you guys now whom I thinking right? The only not-present-in-any-part-of-the-game male character. Are you sure about that? I think it's an "L" as Lambent.kapitalizma wrote: So there I was staring at his portrait and suddenly I noticed something. There is an huge "L" on his forehead. "L" as a Looser.

...and once it stands out for you, It will allways be there. Allways. Yeah, you just go ahead and try to play with that dude and let's see if you can forget for a moment that you are playing with a Looser (or Lover as my brother sugested...but he's a treehugger so it's cool). You might aswell name your character Lem or Leno or Laaser right away cause then you can allways lie to yourself that the scar stands for that instead of...well you know...Yeah right.
Anyway...but what I was wondering was that does everyone agree that optical illusion it might be but it was but there deliberately by the designers...it is not just a coincidence. It was ment to be an "L". I have a slightly paranoid theory that "man1" aka Abdel, the somethingsword is somewhat of a joke amongst the game's developers. Don't know why but I'm pretty confident in my theory.

Is the picture really of Abdel? If you've ever played the mission pack game (it comes along with ToSC), Abdel is the name of the leader of the party, and his portrait is that of Kivan.
I'm probably just complicating things
About the game developers thinking of Abdel as a joke, I think that's hilarious. I never really liked the BG novels anyway.
