Hello,
I just finished my first run through the game, and am now thinking about doing it for the second time. A few questions about this:
I want to add some mods to make it more interesting/slightly different. Aside from the banter and flirt packs, which i have already decided on, what is recommended? I dont want to make the game any harder, i found some battles hard enough first time through.
If i played through BG1 and then imported the character in, would he be able to have any of the subclasses?
I've been looking through the forum, and as i wanted a party with lots of interesting dialogue, i decided on the following party: PC, Mazzy, Korgan, Jan, Aerie, and Haer'Dalis. What class PC would be good with this? I was thinking maybe a sorcerer, as i always enjoyed these in NWN, duelled or multi with a theif. Also, would Haer'Dalis leave if Aerie chose the PC over him? And Korgan and Aerie argue to, dont they?
Thanks for your time.
2nd time through
Given that none of the NPCs you're thinking of a pure clerics, that would be an option. Create a human Ranger, thief, fighter or mage in BG1 perhaps and dual class on starting SoA, the Ranger/Cleric is a potent dual classed character. Unless you're using the Tutu mod to play BG1 then you wont get the subclass options in that game, but that can be fixed using Shadow Keeper on starting SoA. No sorcerers in BG1 though.
The Saerileth (female Paladin joinable NPC) mod I found good, expect conflict with evil NPCs though.
Many mods can be found here: Pocket Plane Group - Bending Baldur's Gate 2 and the Infinity Engine, the Saerileth mod here: Saerileth Mod.

To be more specific: you might want to consider installing NPC Mods and Quest Mod.
Among the first are Kelsey and Keto, which in my opinion set the NPC standard for other modders (although there are many more NPC mods, just try a search here and you'll find more than enough info as well as opinions on the matter).
Among the later are Unfinished Business, Quest Pack, Ascension, G3Anniversary and of course Tactics (which adds encounters as well as improves them).
Galrean already linked you to various sites, and I sincerely advice you to keep an eye on the PocketPlaneGroup and The Gibberlings Three forums.
