New Game/Patch Suggestions Please

Post by Fsujonn »

I am going to start this game and would like some suggestions on patch help. What patch/updates would you suggest and in what order to get the best out of the game? I appreciate the help.
Thanks

The following is what I posted to jeff123's post entiteled Moathouse Crash:

This is an extremely bug ridden/bug infested game. Not only are there 2 official patches for this game but also a community made patch from the Circle of Eight that addresses unaddressed bugs that Atari won't fix.

Here is what you need to do. Go to the Circle of Eight website. You can Google it easily. They will tell you the order of patches. This is very important. I wouldn't play this game without this patch. I've done it and it works fine. Hope this helps.

They'll likely push their own mods, however. They're not aggressive about it or anything, in fact they're very very helpful, but they do love their mods, and often don't appreciate how much harder they can make the game for those unfamiliar with it.

For the standard as-intended game, I'd go with Atari's official patch 2 and then temple.zip (see the sticky thread on patches, or ask at co8.org for advice).

Beyond that, there are fan mods that do everything from make the NPCs less annoying (see the sticky thread on that too) to making the game bigger and tougher. I personally recommend the straight up game with the minimal fixes for a first run and then frills and other stuff later, when you can appreciate it.

(Use the lastest 1.3 build - it's still beta, but stable and far better than 1.2)
