Bugs? Glitches? Funny experiences?

Post by diggitydan »

:::Hey all!::: After watching all the funny glitches on youtube concerning wireframe and collision errors in Oblivion, I thought I would start a thread on all the hilarious, frustrating, or otherwise just plain strange glitches or situations you have run into. So anyhow, I thought I would share one I ran into today, I was just running around randomly trying to find quests from the locals when I decided to break into the pirate ship near Anvil (Not the one inhabited by ghosts, the OTHER one lol) anyhow, I get in there, all the pirates inside (and I mean ALL of them) for some reason or another randomly freaked out! I was like "yeah bring it on!" but then all of the sudden they ran into this small room full of sheep and just started killing them !!! it was hilarious thinking they're going all crazy on the sheep, so I just sit back and watch until they're all dead (bwa ha ha ha) then they turn around and start chasing me (to be expected) however, I lead them into the city gates thinking the gaurds will kill em all off for me, however, they just stood there! so I have like five bloodthirsty pirates chasing me into Anvil when all of the sudden EVERY SINGLE VILLAGER starts mobbing these five pirates. People even ran out of their houses to fist fight these booze soaked water rats. Anyhow, they chase these five pirates. I've saved the file so I could watch different outcomes. One of them has the whole city of anvile (blacksmith and all) chasing these pirates out into the country!!! It's like having my own army. Sorry, this kinda got long, ok, well feel free to post. Peace out.

Well, I've never seen the videos on you tube that you're talking about, but I remember some glitches that I would have on my old vid card.

Every once in a while I guess I would be running from one area to another to fast, or something, and the ground wouldn't be stable. It was like a constant jumping or falling because something on the ground didn't load correctly. All I would have to do was "jump" 20 yards away to ground that had loaded right and everything would be ok.

But, this one time I was on the outskirts of Bravil in the mountains and it happened again. Only this time I fell straight through the ground! At first I didn't know what the hell happened, but I could look up as I was falling and see the world getting smaller and smaller. Then I looked down and I could see the small square getting bigger and bigger. Only I wasn't quite sure what it was.

It turned out I was somehow miles above world and at the same time miles below the world (it was a really long fall). Eventually, the world below me got bigger and bigger until I went splat! Died, reload, continued on.

That's the biggest glitch that comes to mind.

As far as wireframe/collision detection glitches, I'm pretty sure a lot of us have had sidewalks disappear now and then. This happens a good bit to the sidewalk in front of the Imperial City waterfront warehouses, but I've also seen it happen to the raised walkway around the arch-mage's tower in the arcane university, and to several different stone bridges.

AI glitches - this isn't the best I've seen but it's the most recent: doing a DB quest, walking along beside Telaendril on the road between Leyawin and Cheydinhal because it would be a shame if anything BAD happened to her while nobody was looking. Out pops a highwayman and I'm thinking, golly, how terrible it would be if he murdered my friend. Of course, he attacks me but Telaendril gets out her bow and starts shooting at him. Being a master of Block, I just stand there blocking and taking a heal potion now and then while she plugs him full of 50 arrows or so because I'm still hoping to see them duke it out. She eventually kills him, and he never so much as looks over his shoulder at her to ask, "hey lady, do you MIND?!?"

ditto!

:::hahaha::: Yeah actually when I got home I loaded up a saved game and got into a similar situation, there was this thief running from the Imperials or something, anyhow, there were two Imperials chasing this Argonian, I thought "hmm" so I followed him out of Bruma into the wilderness. He got all the way to a fort and then a random highwayman started attacking him so I thought I would save the argonian, I was filling this highwaymen full of arrows akin to your situation, only he didn't even turn around or anything, just kept going at the argonian, then after I had finished him off I kept chasing the argonian only to find a wolf attacking him! this goes on and on wiht me saving his sorry tail until finally he jumped a little to far off a cliff and killed himself.

A couple funny and a couple not so funny (possible spoilers)

When I went into some of the ayelid ruins, there would be these wide open containers almost look like they were for a fire or something that contained welkynd stones. When I selected the first one to take, the other two fell through the container onto the floor. That happened twice.

The second one was I upped my level in Alchemy and was exchaging calcinators. Since I was part of the mages guild I could do that in arcane university for free. When I took the old one out and it fell out of my inventory it landed on two of its four legs with the other two in the air with the whole calcinator at a 45 degree angle and stayed there.

these two are more questions, I don't think the game is counting up skill points for leveling up correctly. I trained fives times on armorer(at the same level), which I believe should have given me +5 on endurance upon leveling up. In the last 5 times I have leveled up the biggest attribute number to select is 3 and I know that I have had a couple of fives because I spend so much time making potions. I am a lvl 15 battle mage and my alchemy skill is 82 and I have never had 5 to select for intelligence upon leveling up. Anybody ever heard of something like that? (I have loaded the 1.1.511 patch prior to playing this character)

The last one is, when you get to be arch mage which my character is now, you get to put one ingredient in the chest and get 10 back after 24 hours. I put in nirnroot and it did not give me 10 back after 24 hours. I took the nirnroot out and put another ingredient in and then immediately selected the chest and there were 11 of the ingredient I had just put one in the chest. I guess nirnroot doesn't count as an alchemical ingredient because you don't/can't use it in any potions????

Actually, you need two increases in a related skill to gain one point in the related attribute, so you would need to increase Armorer 10 times to get +5 Endurance.

Unfortunately, no you can't duplicate Nirnroot even though it seems like an ingredient (presumably so you can't use the chest to burn right through the whole "seeking your roots" quest).

This thread is for posting funny experiences based on game bugs, not for simply relating bugs. Post removed.

My horse dissapeared

I left my horse in Bravil, at the stables. I went on foot to Leyawijn in order to clear the road of bandits and take some loot. I did some quests in Leyawijn and than returned on foot to Bravil and collected the loot i could not carry on my way to Leyawijn. Well, i could not find my horse. It wasn't were i left it. As far as i know, they don't go away and i didn't hear until now of someone stealing them. also the place was packed with guards. i searched everywhere around but could not find it. after half an hour of looking around, tired and frustrated, i opened the map and clicked fast travel on the stables, although i was just in front of it. loading, etc., and surprise. my horse magically appeared in front of me, in the place i left it.

Horse in the castle

Well I have the download theives den and horse armor (do not know if horse armor makes a differents) I fast travil to the theives den and get ready to go inside (I road my horse right up to the door) and then I think I cannot just leave my horse standing in the water like that he might get hypothermea or something so I get back on and ride him to the cliff right above the smugglers cave and dismount right next to the anvil castle balcony wall. Next I go inside the theives den and foll around for about half an hour. I come back out side and go up to get my horse but he is not there I look and look all around and still cannot find hi then I look strait up it the sky for some random reason and I can see his life force stuff and it looks like he is in the castle wall because I have the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. After trying to jump up there for about 15 mins I get smart and go inside the caslte inside the counts chambers I find a door that goes out to her own personal balcony thing. And sitting right there is my horse just standing there trying to eat the rock floor. That is the story of the crazyist thing that has every happened to me in oblivion

Daedra killing daedra . . .

I was at the top of an Oblivion tower, in the sigil chamber, fighting a Clannfear. There was a flame atronach across the chamber shooting fireballs at me. I maneuvered so that the Clannfear was between me and her . . . and she shot him in the back and killed him!
