Henchmen Problems

Post by MageOfTheWood »

My henchmen doesn't seem to want to level up. I have a level 17 cleric and on his henchmen's stats it says hes only level 14. I know that henchmen are supposed to be one level lower than you right? Well I've tried asking him to level up but there's no option for that. I've tried abandoning him and then taking him back but to no avail. I have the newest patch to my game, and I'm still on the Original Neverwinter Nights. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem in the OC. I think there is a level cap for your henchies for each chapter.

No level cap.

What you do is switch your henchmen around back and forth, that should level them. I don't know if it's one at a time or all at once, but switch from your normal companion to someone else, then back to your normal.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

Nope, I tried that, didn't work, but I only tried switching to one other henchman and then back, so I dont know. But no matter, just beat the game today, so no need for him to level up any longer. :D

Well we were all wrong :p

There is in fact a level cap for your henchmen but it does not change every chapter, its fixed at 14 as was observed here. I had the same problem in Luskan with Tomi. You can test this using the dm_givelevel command in all the chapters, at least with Tomi, Linu and the others you first meet in Neverwinter.

Why would they implement such a low level cap to further incapacitate the henchmen? Is there a way to edit the game files to remove the cap? I've heard of people removing the level cap for the main character, but never henchmen.

Why won't my henchman fight?

I'm in the Isle of the Maker chapter and when I go to fight the mythral golems, my henchman won't fight them. He just stands there no matter how much I tell him to attack. Any suggestions?

For the level problem: no idea.
As for the non-combatant problem: I assume you've tried different henchman behaviours (follow, stand ground etc.)? Beyond that I'm once again at a loss for suggestions.

(This reply is really just a shameless plug for my own related question below, see my 'henchman behaviour bug?'- thread) ;)
