I need Help with Class Teirs

Can some1 tell me if it is possible to have a 2nd tier that doesn't match any of your first tiers. I give example.......

first tiers rougue and mage
2nd tiers Sorcerer and celestial
3rd tier Wizard.......I'd appreciate it if some1 could help me out. I'm new to game so I'm trying to figure out how to go with my character. not sure if u r stuck with a 2nd teir that goes with you (second)first tier

Nope.

It must be a progression within the class structure.

Here is an "optimal" character build progression. Hopefully it highlights *WHY* you might choose one class structure over another. (scroll to bottom of the page - and note that it continues to the next page.)

Only exception to the rule is the female char... when she joins the sisterhood those classes ( Valkerie & Enchantress) start out on second tier.
