Steve and I slaved over this one and you can alter your location but there's a slight catch. Normally, you cannot go from inside somewhere to outside in the world map. Besides the location codes, there's also a map locator code. On the outside, it's 00. On the inside of temples, etc., there's something different, for instance the map locator for inside House Fathien is 31 (hex 1F). So if you try to use the editor to go from inside to outside, there's also an option to change the two digit map locator. But, that sometimes fails and you get the space error.
The hex locations are easily enough found in the save file if you want to directly hex edit the save. From the very bottom of the save file, going up you see three very distinct code groups on the left side where all the 000000, numbers and letters are. The location group is the third group from the bottom of the file. Here is a rather lengthy list of all the main locations for hex editing. But do try using the editor first and be sure to change the map locater two digit code for the location you chose.
The top line is what you'll actually change on the left side of the screen, the bottom line is what shows at the lower left of the hex screen when you change the hex values. MAKE A COPY OF YOUR SAVE BEFORE FOOLING AROUND WITH IT
Your not screwed at all. All you have to do is change one byte to a "00" and you'll be able to use
the editor to move you around the world map. In CE/1.5, you will have to hex edit your saved file
and modify the byte 56467 bytes from the end of the file, which is also 23,004 bytes before the
last appearance of your characters name.
For version 1.4, it will be the byte 57061 bytes from the end of the file, or 25248 bytes before the
last appearance of your characters name.
This is the byte that determines which map your character is located on. Once set to zero, select a
location in the editor and save the file. Presto.. you'll be fine.
