K, just recently got the game Might and Magic 7: For Blood and Honor. Curious as to a comfortable key setup anybody has had. Right now, it's so farfetched that I can't really do anything with it.
Also, how do I assign quick spells? I'd like my sorcerer to be able to use some firebolts here and there, but I have to manually pause the game and go in, select firebolt, and then go back into combat trying to target a creature while it hammers me down.
Any suggestions?

Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

Congratulations on finding this awesome game! I envy you for your first-time experience with it
For all the M&M games I've played and enjoyed, i always used the standard key configurations. Just turn Always Run and Flip on Exit on and you'll be fine.. Arrow keys for movement and A for attack, C for casting a spell.. Most of the time, once i advance my characters to a reasonable level i would use attack/quick spell in the same button. So my knight would hit for 300 dmg and my Sorcerer would Incinerate for 400
to set up a quick spell just open your spell book, click on the desired spell ONCE, so it is highlighted, (remember clicking twice will fire the spell, and you could anger the whole town if you hit an innocent peasant) and just press the quick spell button that is located on the right bottom part of the menu. Hope I've been of help!
Oh i could offer some early spell selection tips, but that is a spoiler, so it's up to you if you'll read it

Spoiler
Early on you don't have enough spell points to play around with, so keeping wizard eye and torch light always on is the priority. Try firebolting the critter that gives you the most trouble (such as the Queen Dragonfly for example.) Your Cleric should get Harm asap, and use it sparingly on the tough monsters. And Heal should be your quick spell for her/him.. Cheers!
I just installed M&M7 for yet another replay
And i managed to find a fan-made patch that fixes a number of issues, and namely upgrades some files so you can play in Direct 3D mode under Win XP. If anyone is having issues with M&M7, they should go and download it from Flamestryke's MM7 cheers!
p.s. I also found a similar patch for M&M6 that fixes the dreaded doors in Kriegspire and the Shadow Guild
If anyone is interested i'll post the link.

Please do so. It doesn't matter whether anyone needs it right now. Having it in the database will help out somebody in the future.Sator wrote:p.s. I also found a similar patch for M&M6 that fixes the dreaded doors in Kriegspire and the Shadow GuildIf anyone is interested i'll post the link.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Ok, the patch is by the same author. It fixes a number of issues with Might & Magic 6 and is currently hosted here: http://strony.aster.pl/mokmtg/mm6_eng_patch.exe I have both files on my HDD and will burn them on a DVD (along with images of the M&M 6,7,8 CD's) so i will be able to supply them if the links should ever go down.. Cheers!
