Best Dwarf Reroll?
Hey,
I'm still figuring out how this reroll stuff works i'm just rerolling and storing so I get a real high score I don't know how high it can actually be though? Is there a maximum they can get and if so is that any different for classes/races? What i'm interested in mostly is the highest reroll for a Dwarf? I'd like to know for other races as well though!

When you are on the character generation screen rolling for Ability scores you can click on each Ability to get a description and the minimum and maximum scores for that race.
As far as i know dwarves have a bonus to constitution and a penalty to charisma and dexterity.
So the max you could get rolling would be: 18 17 19 18 18 17 as they appear down the screen from the top.
The chances of actually rolling these max numbers are very slim, you could be re-rolling for a long time. You can raise or lower scores to get the max in one ability at the expense of another.
All races except human have a bonus or a penalty to different Abilities. Humans have neither, they could get all 18's.
If you really want a max character to play with it is far easier to just accept your score and then change it using one of the available Savegame Editor programs. Spending days rerolling is not good for mental health!

I think the computer rolls 4D6 and uses the three highest. Not sure on this but you seem to get pretty good rolls.
Also Races as well as classes have minimum requirements. And the way this game works is that if the computer rolls below what is required it will raise your score to the minimum requirement. That means that if someone did a kit that required 17 in everything you'd automatically get really good rolls if you used that kit.
It also means that some classes are easier to get high rolls for. I think one of the best classes if you want as high rolls as possible is en elven ranger.
All this is just based on my perosnal observations and not really very useful.

I was a bit naughty once - rather than keep on wearing the ring of human influence (18 CHA) I used SK to raise it to 18 permanently.
I usually re-roll until I have enough points for 18, 18, 18, 18, 15, 3, then get the RHI to return to normal CHA. if the PC isn't human and isn't going to dual from fighter then I may drop 2/3 points from CON, which I put in CHA, unless they are a cleric, when it goes into WIS.
when you do WK and get a +1 to all, that makes up for the unfair loss of a point in the 'dream'/test. I haven't sacrificed levels, but perhaps that would be better. how much XP do you lose?
with equipment, you can get to be CHA25 - RHI 18, nymph cloak+2 =20 helm+1 =21 blade of roses+3 24 and I'm sure there is something else that boosts CHA.
the benefits for a high CHA don't really seem to be factored in properly - no special dialogues - almost automatically charming people to get what you want - just a reaction adjustment that seems to mean little.
in PnP a high CHA was worth having for some characters - say a thief who might get caught or a cleric wanting to influence people to get 'converts' or a mage wanting to 'wow' a village and pretend to be mightier than they were.

Dwarves usually get the worst rolls, if you roll a paladin or ranger you can exspect the average sum of stats to be higher by 5 or so.
But how high the total roll is isn't really that important, unless your dwarf is a cleric you won't feel a difference between 3 and 18 wisdom, int is only useful against one single type of enemies, for charisma you can use the ring of human influence or will have a party member with higher charisma stat, there are so many spells and items to set strength to 18/00 or even higher, you might even get a permanent strength increase which yields the same result whether you had 18/07 or 18/00 strength before.
In a normal game stats like 18/00-19-17-11-3-2 can be considered perfect for a dwarf fighter or fighter/thief, that's a total of only 70.

Could anyone please tell me the name of the editor for tob ?
Nevermind, i found it, shadow keeper; i seem to have a problem though, i'm trying to make a pair of boots of speed in my inventory, but when i go to the game, it says 'you cant remove that item' ; it works fine for other items.. but not fot the boots of speed. Ideas?

I'm curious, whats the highest natural roll possible?? I would think 100 but I'm not sure. The highest I got was a Paladin who had 16 18 18 11 13 18 94 total. But any other char I'm good with 18,18,18,11,10,10 or 10 18 18 18 10 10
For a child of Bhall 85 total is within reason but SK'ing yourself 95 is strech even for a half god in IWD2 you get 76 +/- any racial bonuses and over there every single stat has some purpose makes deciding very difficult

I have actually rolled 95 for a half-elf cleric ranger. The reason why it is easy to get high stats in that class is that you are bound to get good rolls in everything except charisma and intelligence because of the miminum rolls. Thus, if you get a good roll in those two attributes, you will get good stats overall. Getting a roll of 93 is actually quite easy. If you start in ToSC and use those nice tomes, you can imagine the stats that you end up with! If you cheated and took a character through a few times, or imported a character carrying the Tomes, you could get up to 25 in all attributes. I would not reccomend it however. You would be way overpowered. Cheating does not enhance the game in the slightest in my opinion.Jedi_Sauraus wrote:I'm curious, whats the highest natural roll possible?? @ Jedi, yeah I think that 100 is the limit - I've never personally rolled one though.
The best I've rolled for a half-orc Barb (and dwarf Barb) has been an 89.
Shortly after that I've used Shadow Keeper ever since to divide the 100 on all the rest of the char's I've created, just to save time, headache, sleep, etc.
Thanks
Buster

I don't think there's a general limit of 100 implemented, only the random number generator decides about what is possible.
I've never rolled more than 99 myself but I've heard about characters with more than 100.
It might be impossible to roll more than 96 for a dwarf fighter, but in order to be sure you have to know the random number generator and be able to analize it.
I got my 98/76 roll for my human BG1 fighter after half an hour or so, since I got it so early I thought I could get something even better, but I never got a roll that good any more.
