Clerics

Post by Rhûn »

I have to say, I never really paid much attention to clerics. I always preferred druids and often experimented with druid or fighter/druid NPCs, preferring the whole love-of-nature philosophy to the god worshipping. However, I am currently playing as an elven Feywarden of Corellon (divine remix mod) and have to admit I've missed out on a lot. The cleric is a hugely powerful class! He is the party tank, able to withstand a lot of hits, deal a good amount of damage, and has a great AC. I accidentally clicked Turn Undead (something I've always ignored) in the Rift area of the Unseeing Eye quest, and imagine my surprise when all 8 shadows/wraiths blew up in my face. My PC is a good tank, a good offensive and defensive spellcaster with a lot of self/party buffs and damage dealing spells (blade barrier, flame strike), can incapacitate enemies with various crowd-controlling spells and can of course heal everyone. Myself and Viconia stride into a mass of undead and within moments, half of them are destroyed and a quarter are charmed. The rest are fleeing before our holy wrath :P Easy fight ahead.
Just thought I'd vent my feelings. Incidentally, what are the holy symbols they receive (IIRC) at lvl24?

It's Divine Remix that's responsible. I'm using the Silverstar of Selune cleric, and the addition of 1-2 attack spells per level, however well chosen, gives the class a flexibility against the living (as opposed to the undead) it's lacked for me.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
