Question on stealing [bandits]

Post by Han-Da »

Guile Level: 6
Game Version: TLC

Ok.. so I read one thread [The Scimitar]

and it just says go to the bandit when they put down their weapon. So I wait and I wait and I realize they dont put down their weapons. They put it in their backs and then sit down to eat or whatever.

So I assign steal to one of my 10 slots and I got to them and press when they're sitting... and it doesnt work.

Question 1:

How do we steal from bandits?

Question 2:

Any good weapons/armour/stuff to steal from shops? and where?

I think all I've gotten so far is some maces, swords and yeah... clothes [chainmail stuff]

If you're talking about trying to pickpocket them, it is not possible. From what I remembered, the best time to steal from bandits is during the morning (that's when they go to sleep). As for stealing, just use the 'use' key on any item or treasure chest you see. Just make sure they're either asleep or not looking at you. ;)

I may or may not be correct here but the weapons and items the shopkeepers put out on display are usually not the very good ones. The only way to get them is to buy them.

Yes its true, You cant pickpocket... A shame.. Would of been great on this game. But oh well i guess. As for the shops go. You can do it during the day.. Really hard tho.. Or wait till night and get the door open.. And just help your self. usally no one is inside.. Most of the time.. And DesR85 is correct.. most of the time the stuff on display is.. Kinda crapy.. Lol hope that helped. And Welcome as well!

Yeah, I agree that it's hard to rob a shop because the shopkeeper keeps looking at you when you enter his premises. As for waiting till nightime to rob a shop, won't that be impossible? Because, from previous experience, the shopkeepers usually put away their wares when they close their respective shops. They only put them back on display when they open their shops.

Hey there are SOME good things. I've stolen a whole set of Bright Chain Mail suit from the shop.

Day time stealing has better stuff most of the times though.

Best Stratergy...

Good Way:

If you are playing a good character... Make the shop keeper follow you out of the shop somewhere else where he cant stumble back in, then make him drunk by giving him at LEAST 4 beers.

Next, pay a guard if he is too close. Then you're free to loot. yay. Be careful, theres a time limit to how long the guard will stay bribed.

Bad Way:

If you play evil, the shokeeper probably wont follow you out of the shop cuz he'll probably be screaming his head off. So what you do is also get him drunk. and push him out the door. Just keep walking into him till he's outside the shop.

Then pay a guard if he is too close again. Then you're free to loot once more.

Best Items you can steal is chainmails. Bright or Normal. You can actually obtain the full suit.

I made a different save and turned him into a thief almost. In my travelling to different towns to steal heres all I've gotten as far as I know:

Armour:

-Full Chain Mail Suit Bright/Normal
-Plate Boots [Bright/Normal/Dark]
-Plate Gaunlets [Bright/Normal/Dark]
-Full Guard Uniform
-Full Bright villager/normal villager outfit.
-I cant remember about will clothes, But I got a full set of normal Will user robes. Also some bits of dark and bright as well.
-Full Bright Leather Outfit/Leather outfit
-Full Set Bright/Normal/Dark Dress

Weapons:
-Obsidian Sword
-Obsidian Mace
-Also one more but I forgot what sword it was.

Hairstyles:
I havent tried hairstyles cuz its a waste of time, but making the lady in bowerstone drunk will enable you to steal whatever hairstyles is on display as well.

General Stuff:
-Resurrection Viles
-Potions
-Meat
-Apple Pies
-Thunder Doll
-Fish
-and awhole lot of other crap

Augmentations:
-Lightning
-Sharpening
-Silver
-Flame
-Piercing

Best place to steal for me is Oakvale, Hoftedstaff or whatever his name is has the best armour on display if ure lucky. Just teleport all around albion to find which shops you find have the nicest stuff and loot. Use the above stratergies. Everytime you enter the town, the items on display change, so if you want an item... DONT GET CAUGHT, cuz you can get thrown out of town and when you enter again... it will be different items already. Also since we're on the subject... remember that armour/weapons take longer to steal. So make sure you dont take too long inside the shops at night/day when you pay the guards. If you're stealing armour/weapons I would recommend you pay the guard once.. steal the item, then if theres something else thats nice in there, come out of the shop and pay him and go back in again. Else you'll get caught.

If you go into Oakvale's general store for food and stuff opposite the armour shop at night. Its really fun. You pick the lock when the guards arent looking. Then when you walk in, the doors shut. Giving you as much time as you need to loot the whole shop. When you're done, make sure u see no guards through the window, then you just pick the lock from inside again, and just walk out. Simple. =]

If you have high Guile, then you can picklock the door and go in and start stealing things (works awesome at night). Just make sure you bribe the Guards first.

Um.. no. well every time i go in after night and get the door open. There is always stuff there.. So i dont worry about all the other stuff.. Except in oakvale or what ever. But in the weapons shop i believe you will always get caught because of the guards out side that are like watching. And you cant pay them all off because like new ones come all the time..

Forget nightime, and forget trying to steal in front of them. One thing will give you a 100% chance of ransacking the store freely, and give you a good chuckle. Go down-village, head into the tavern, buy them outta beer, go back. Set the beer up as one of your number keys. Once they start stumbling around, push them out of the store, and help yourself. /sexy hero pose
I mean, she was a stunner... At least I think she was. But I also thought the trees around us were running around on little chocolate legs, if you see what I mean.
