romance underdark (may contain spoilers)

Post by Taurn »

I have a mod i think its unfinished business that said something about how imoen was suppose to die and not be a npc. So BGII has no quest input from her. This mod i have is suppose to add quest banter/input. My question is If im romancing jahiera in a new game and i make straight for spellhold, will that mess up the romance any? Is there any key things in her romance i need to do before i go there? Im basically planning to start a new game and romancing jahiera and just killing the mercenary bands for equip and money and maybe a small quest to get the money for the shadow thieves and then off to spellhold for imoen.

I dont understand the first part of your post: Imoen is not supposed to die, and she has a belt to make sure she stays alive. I use UB and i dont remember that it alters anything to do with Imoen throughout the BG2 section of the saga.

Jageira Romance: there are some great posts on this deeper in the forum which spell it out step by step in full detail. You will not damage the romance by heading to Spell Hold asap, but BEAR IN MIND: the romance is put on hold as soon as you enter spellhold, and will not advance again until you leave the underdark, as i recall.

thanks

sorry it was clear yeah basically i was asking if going straight to spellhold and the underdark would screw up the romance in any way but if not that great.

I remember reading somewhere i thought it was unfinished business where origionally when they were making the game that imoen was suppose to die and not come back from spellhold. They scratched the idea when making the game but she had no quest banter or interjections for the other quests because she was suppose to be dead. I thought UB fixed this and added quest banter for quests like the slaver quest, firkaag, cult of the unseen eye etc? I have never played UB so was curious on this.

What you "heard" was just rumor. To find out more about Unfinished Business, go check out the readme file and forum for the mod. The link is here.

found it

i had the wrong patch this is what i read. Its the BG2 fixpack from g3. Although the file is empty so theres no dialogu anyways now that i read it closer so i guess it doesnt matter. thansk though for the romance info.

Imoen Has No Banter Dialogue File Assigned in Shadows of Amn

Imoen was originally planned to be killed at Spellhold, and was added back very late in the design process. As such, she has no banters and very little dialogue after you pick her back up. In fact, she has no banter dialogue file assigned at all. This component assigns her banter file, though it remains empty.

Imoen does have a fair amount of banter. It occurs in the game's prologue.

Again, where does it state that Bioware intended to kill Imoen off at Spellhold? And how do you square this with Imoen's importance in one major dream sequence, whose content was resource-rich enough to hardly have been left until very late in the design process? I'm just curious. I have no conclusions at all in the matter, but find this statement about Imoen being "added back very late in the design process" unsupported by Bioware or by the game, itself. This doesn't make what you say wrong, but it doesn't make it right, either. :)

Fable, Taurn was quoting directly from the documentation for the G3 BG2 Fixpack, which you can find here. (It just goes to show how important proper quotation and attribution can be.) I too am curious where G3 obtained their information, but it would probably be more productive to ask them than to ask Taurn. :) If you find out, please post the results.

thanks

i do apologize for the bad quoting. Yes my thinking when asking this question was that i thought they had added banter to all the SOA quests for imoen and i wanted to check it out. So i was going to go directly to spellhold to get her and then do all the quests to see what she said. However it seems the file is empty so its pointless to do that now. So i guess ill think of some other run through now hehe thanks for all the help and info with everything.

I just might do that. I've been posting a bit over there, and along with the PPG, they seem pretty wide awake. :)
