I want to try something new

Post by Yeltsu »

Hi all, I just completed the game as a dark consular (27 for those who cares) and for my next runthrough i was contemplating trying something new.

I was really amazed by Hanharr last time, and i would really like to use him again this time, only problem is that i'd like to be lightside. So i was thinking that i'd be as dark as possible on Peragus, then go to Nar Shaddar (?) pick him up and then continue and try to go lightside, and if possible turn him him to the light as well.

Do you think this would work? or would i not be able to become "good" again?

Also, do you think i would be able to become dark enough on Nar Shadda to become a Sith Marauder before starting to go light again? I think a team of Hanharr, Handmaiden and me as guardian/marauder would be quite unstoppable.
However i faintly remember reading somewhere that if a sith become light, he looses some abilities.

I once tried that while including several other dark side npc quests. I was able to max light side again, but not before gaining the prestige class, thus neglecting one stat bonus. You could probably get it done if you complete the unavoidable dark side alignment quests before you change to your prestige class. Note however that there are only dark side opportunities if you wish to complete all his quests and subsequential bonuses. If you do this while already at a high light side level, the dark side penalty will be far greater. That may or may not make it impossible. You should make Nar Shadaa your first stop and finish Hanharr's quest as quickly as possible while you're still in the grey area.

There are none. No quest related and none related to mastery since he's no Jedi. And again, don't go too far to the lightside before finishing Hanharr's quests. Otherwise those darkside penalties will hit you really hard.

By the way, if you go lightside with a Marauder, you'll gain a Jedi Weapon Master bonus upon mastery. It doesn't change anything for your Marauder since the bonuses are the same, but if you even intend on doing the same character approach with an Assassin/Watchman or Master/Lord, your bonus will change accordingly, despite your chosen class. Something to consider. :)

It worked fairly well, i completed the game today. I ended up as a Guardian 15/Marauder 13. I wasnt able to convert Hanharr tho, since i worked hard to become lightside again after i got him. However, i wasnt able to get light mastery again. I was pretty close, but not there. I do think it is possible tho, since i became lvl 15 on Nar Shadda, in Jekk Jekk Tar, and then i did not have access to Kreia on the Ebon Hawk, so i could not get my prestige class immediatly. This forced me to keep doing evil things to keep my darkside mastery untill i got off Goto's yatch and was able to talk to Kreia and become a Marauder.

It was quite fun once i got Force Enlightment tho, that plus Master Rage really buffed me up to the skies in just two turns. I think the character had some more potential in him tho, since i didnt get to the lightside mastery, and also because i was quite unlucky with lightsaber parts .

at the end i did 5-6 attacks per round (fully buffed with flurry and the lightsaber form that gives another attack) for 40-100 dmg each. Both Darth Sion and Darth Traya fell alot faster to this char than they did to my previous dark consular 27. However, i did sometimes get in trouble if i fought alot of enemies at one time since i only had lightsaber attacks and not an area attack like Force Lightning.

It is interesting to see everyones viewpoints on how they go through the game. I myself prefer to command the force as a Sith Lord and inflict as much pain as possible.
I have found that the best way to go through the game is to stick to one side of the force, dark or light, as keeping switching will effect your maximum potential.
