Watcher's Keep - Level Three (Spoilers)

Post by Aqua-chan »

*Sigh* Without the use of my beloved free GameBanshee, I haven't been able to remember the way to get out of the third level of Watcher's Keep.

As of now, I've got the Scepter of Radiance and *two* jewels from the Mad Elf and the Demons, but can't find the third for the life of me.

In other words... HELP! :D

I think the gem your looking for is in the last room, where that guy gambles with you for the way out.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

That is indeed correct, the gambling cambion by the name of Aesgareth (sp?) has the last one.
There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't.
I think I think, therefore I might be.

I just got of that level only it took longer than it should have. I finally got the three gems but I couldn't get to the lower levels anyway. I was sitting there, trying to figure out if it was a bug or something... Then I realised I forgot to loot the room Yakman was hiding, meaning I had to go back to the beginning of the friggin' maze to get the friggin' scepter. Of course, just tracing back your steps doesnt get you anywhere on this level...
They should put a sign up at Yakman's room: 'Please don't leave behind any scepters and feel free to visit again!'

according to the UHS site with BG2 information here is what you do word by word to get out of the maze
Precise instructions follow:

Get back to the compass room, and go east.

North

South

South

South

West

North

North

You will end up in a room with a bunch of specters and a Demon Wraith.

Just go right after the Demon Wraith, concentrating all your strength on him.

Once he's dead, the spirits will dissipate.

Search the bodies in the room for white dragon scales and a note giving some hints about the dungeon.

Then just head north to the exit caves.

that's how to get out of the maze, what I just do though is I cheat with the teleportation way, I go from room 3003 to 3015 to get what I need once I get on that floor, I don't consider it cheating since the maze area is too complex to be in BG2 I say.
Remember, being Evil in Baldur's Gate 2 is VERY fun...

It's still cheating.... i got out of it without and i don't consider myself of supernatural intellect so it's not that complex. Just go about it with a plan.

Indeed all you have to do is find that journal in the madman's room and you are set to go to the exit of the level. read it carefully and you'll get were you have to go

Yes I have heard that this was suppose to be tricky but the journal pretty much gives it away. "Go to where the sun rises" (East) then go to the cold (north) then go down and your free! Haha riddle riddle!

too hard? you big softie!

I left some of WK until I had a power-game level PC - and when you do - the game seems to throw up uber-powerful opponents too.

if you do WK at a lower level, it is tough, but do-able. leave it until later and you need astounding power/cleverness to overcome the hordes of seal-guardians etc.

without a very high level cleric - sleeping inside WK is very chancy - the WM table gives a lot of draining undead. with Sir Anomen (or VIconia) at high levels - you wake up to the 'whoosh' of the undead exploding on being turned.
a nice bit of xp farming if you have the nerve.

My two cents, that maze is complex but it can be "mapped". Put stuff on the floor to make the rooms unique and then add labels on your map. This is how I got out of "fell wood" (Icewind dale 2) it's tedious and takes 2 hours but it can be done even without a step by step instruction, though you'll be going in circles for a considerable amount of time. There is however the yakman's journal and so I did not use that tedious approach for getting out of the maze in watchers keep.
