haven posters problems
im trying to get all posters for my haven, but the problem is i cant seem to get the last one -.- i got plenty of XP points spare.. around 61 but it will only allow me to assign 2 to the dex so it goes up to 7 and for the chest i need 8
now the poster im after if you already havnt worked it out is the 4th where u pick the chest in mercurio's building.
my security is all full up so i cant stick more points there either, so how can i get it? any tips? im using a tremere

I don't have any trouble picking the Bounty Hunter's chest - as a Tremere. I think you can do it with Lockpicking 9 or 10, but as a Tremere, you have to be maxed out - 9, I think. I don't know if that's a clan-specific thing or not.Iguanac64 wrote:If you picked Tremere and the little backstory package that limits your Dex to 1, then I think you're boned. I did the same thing...had the same problem.

Instead of bloodbuffing before you enter the building, simply use the bloodbuff while picking the lock. This is the only way I know how to get around the Eleysium rule.alleykatt wrote:im trying to get all posters for my haven, but the problem is i cant seem to get the last one -.- i got plenty of XP points spare.. around 61 but it will only allow me to assign 2 to the dex so it goes up to 7 and for the chest i need 8

In at least 1.2 vanilla, you can't buff your way past this. Elysium - no disciplines or weapons. In some of the unofficial upgrades, maybe that is different.Hematic wrote:Instead of bloodbuffing before you enter the building, simply use the bloodbuff while picking the lock. i was using a Tremere female even though i had 70+ spare XP points it would only allow me to add 2 points to dex making it 7 -.- the chest is lockpicking8Jhereg wrote:I don't have any trouble picking the Bounty Hunter's chest - as a Tremere. ya had a spark off intelligence for a sec -.- as i got it saved as an "ending" save i loaded it back up, used "give giftxp" cuz i wasted all left (final showdown and all) the below sshot is with basic armour u can see it wont let me give dex 3 points with super armour it only gives 6 to lock otherwise its 7xjinx wrote:Have you made sure you're wearing the light clothing as well?

You can use your XP to buff your dex and try to get it up 2 more levels. If you get to 4, you should be good to go. That will give you lockpicking 9, and that's enough.alleykatt wrote:ya had a spark off intelligence for a sec -.- as i got it saved as an "ending" save i loaded it back up, used "give giftxp" cuz i wasted all left (final showdown and all) the below sshot is with basic armour u can see it wont let me give dex 3 points with super armour it only gives 6 to lock otherwise its 7

However, in short, you have to walk into that building with raw lockpick 9, no disciplines. That means that you have to have your Dexterity up to 4 (maximum). As an extra added tip, if you get it to three, then the artifact from Chinatown will give you the last point to give you Dexterity 4, and thus lockpick 9. Artifacts do not count as disciplines, either.
As Tremere, that's as high as you can push it, but it's still enough.
Yes, I know, which is why you have to get your Dexterity up to 4. Then you have lockpick 9 without disciplines, and you don't need Blood Buff. My apologies. I said you have to "buff your dex" - by that I meant "increase your dex". Sorry for the confusion.alleykatt wrote:not for the chest as its in a "non activation" zone so bloodbuff wont work

a question on over-maxing.
I may be wrong - but isn't that chest lockpick 8? I did it early on this time through and didn't give myself security 4/5 until later - in fact I am still a natural dex 4 with fae charm +1 (see Isaac or Tseng) so dex 5 plus security 3 was 8.
I suppose that I may have misremembered, but I thought it required 8.
the Fu Syndicate building is annoying - I saved - used xp and gave myself 10 only to find that the locked away book is below my abilities. SO if you do all the manual/Nines skill increases i.e. when arriving downtown, do Skyeline/Empire, Dane then Nines - it is almost worthless to have lockpicking 10.
also - with fae charm you have the max 5 points of dex, so why spend the points? I may be being stupid if the charm takes you over-max (you can only have one BTW, even though you can get given AND buy one without the latest patches).
if you have wits 5, str 5 or dex 5 -or say dodge 5 etc - can an artifact over-max you with some effect or is it wasted?

Now that you mention it, I believe you are right. I normally take it with my lockpick maxed, but I believe I did get it once early - at lockpick 8.Celacena wrote:I may be wrong - but isn't that chest lockpick 8? In the Vanilla version (only official patch) the Fae Charm can also be had from Isaac, but I believe only if you're playing a Toreador. He'll give it to you after completing the Warrens. Maybe the unofficial patches generalised this for all clans.alleykatt wrote:piccie
ok ignore all previous posts fae's charm was in isaac's posession.. not tsengs like the site says -,-
thanks again for tollerating me spamming!

ur right i was playin with a toreador female
no no no
if you grass up the tremere and kill the gargoyle, you get the reward - I was playing a brujah female this time through and received my pressie.
in the latest patches - if you own a charm, you can't buy it - but once you are entitled to claim it from Isaac, Tseng will sell it to you.
