Dual class question

Post by Lobster »

Does a character dual classed to mage ever get more than one quick weapon slot?

I can't say for sure, having never done this. But in theory at least they should, just as soon as your new class surpasses your old one in levels.

That would seem to make sense.
However, I dualled Imoen to a mage when she hit level 6. Then I used GateKeeper to quickly raise her XP so I still had use of her thieving skills. Unfortunately, she just has the one quick weapon slot...

I'd like to try a solo-run of the full series using a dualled thief/mage (without hacking of any kind).
It's frustrating enough having only a limited inventory space, without being forced to hold a melee weapon in the main inventory.

Maybe it was GateKeeper which caused reduction in quick slots?

If you're going to mess with an editor, you have to expect some non-standard results. ;)

Yeah, I had a feeling that might have been the problem.

Restoring the former class skills *shouldn't* take too long on a solo run, because there's nobody to share the XP with.

Depending upon your configuration, you could probably make it alone in a bit with nothing but ankhegs. Or winter wolves, if you're cautious to take on one at a time.

If you are using Tutu then one of the mods/tweak packs for that gives mages 2 weapon slots just like they have in BG2

The Gibberling's Three BG2 Tweak Pack, I assume. Yes, that's correct. Great mod. :)

Depends on what character.

Thief: No
Cleric: I think so
Fighter: Yes
