I've noticed an increase of High Definition videos on the Internet, mostly in game/movie previews. As nice as this development may be, my computer can't play them properly.
What kind of computer do you need to play back these things? My videocard is below mid-class nowadays, but it does have two hundred and fifty-six megabytes of onboard memory. I have one gigabyte of system memory, all of which seems.. well, adequate. My two and a half gigahertz processor is probably definitely outdated enough, but I don't know if that's a decisive factor.
In any case we're not talking about texture memory or triangles here, so what I do know about video playback is more than likely woefully out of touch with the modern age. Advice would be appreciated.

I used to see the system specs mentioned 2 years ago but I can't recall where I saw it. Anyway, I found [url="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/hd/recommendations.html"]this[/url] at Apple's Quicktime website after doing a search in Google. Not sure if this answers your question but I hope it does.

I'm not sure it does either. This is quicktime.. should it make a difference? I'm sort of on par with those specs, except that I'm sort of short one gigahertz on the highest settings. But I seriously doubt I've ever seen a 1920x1080 video online.

Hm.. perhaps I'm experiencing some kind of hardware/software issue I'm not normally aware of. I don't like where this line of thinking is taking me.
