Last (?) Thief quest in CH 3 BUG

Post by Smitiz »

Hello everyone!

I've accepted the Shadow thiefs last quest in CH 3 to kill the opposing guild in graveyard district, but when I get to to blue doors in the Tombs there is no mage waiting for me
I've solved the Trademeet quests and went back again, but still no mage to open the doors :speech:
Is there anything I must do first?
I've tried to teleport in with debug mode, but I think the enemy guild leader is scripted to appear after the doors are open...
Can anyone help me?

Ohh, and when I had Anomen in my party He was lvl 12 when a messanger came and told him that his trial will come now and go to the Radiant Heart, but when I go there therer's nobody saying anything about it... I've accidently choosed to kill his fathers rival in the quest, could this be a bug? Anywayz I've dumped him and got Keldorn instead, but I miss his cleric spells... :( He went away furius in a "thanks for nothing" style, is there a way to recruit him again?

Sounds like a major bug. slight SPOILER ahead The doors not opening has nothing to do with the rival guild leaders scripts that much I can rule out right now. After the doors open you get to clear out a whole nest of vampires but you probably knew that :) END SPOILER

Did you talk to Aran about actually sending the mage or are you playing through for the xxx^th time and forgot to report back :) ??

Anyway to solve this you can use the console to cheat the mage in somebody here ought to have the code for him. If you haven't already install the the latest ToB patch and Baldurdash fixpack and fall back on an earlier save. Preferably before going to take Anomen's test and reporting success to Aran after getting the note from the messanger at the inn in the Bridge district (your previous quest)

If you miss Anomen's cleric spells, I would humbly recommend Viconia. She has slightly less tanking ability, but has 19 dex 65% magic resistance and has a much better personality

Rgd. Anomen and Radiant Heart

This may be totally wrong and unuseful - it has been some time since I had Anomen in a party - but I seem to recall, that I had some "problems" myself at this point. IIRC my mistake was that I only talked to the knights in the "mail hall" of The Radiant Heart. I believe it is the guy in the room to the very (upper) left of the screen you need to talk to (or maybe that was only to complete the paladins quest???). Anyway - my 2cents :)

I've talked with the main thief leader earlyer, he said that He will send a mage to open it, but nothing has happened :(
If anyone has the code to spawn the mage there plz post it here!

I'm playing with the Baldurs.Gate.Compilation's BG2, with the newest patch, but just with SoA
Should I install this baldurdash too?
Maybe I'll try Viconia too, thx ;)

Baldurdash is well worth it. It iron's out many if not all bugs not adressed by the patch. As for your SoA patch did you actually download it or did the game come patched out of the box ?? if it's the latter there may be a newer (better) patch on bioware's website it doesn't hurt any to download

Oh and @ Henry, I'm about 99% sure that to get Anomen to attempt his test you talk to one of the 3 or so knights in the center of the main room, and not any of the people in the small side rooms

For what it's worth, I would recommend instead the G3 BG2 Fixpack, instead. It has everything in Baldurdash, and then some. And I speak as someone who swore by Baldurdash for several years. It simply hasn't been updated, and the Fixpack makes various choices optional, and adds a lot more to the mix.

@Jedi - I'm about 99% sure that you're right :)

(I played a Paladin at the time I had Anomen in my party so I probably got it mixed up with the Paladin stronghold quest)

I've installed BG2_Fixpack-v2.exe, but still there is no one waiting for me below the Graveyard to open those damn doors

And I had an another problem earlyer too, when I entered the Planar Sphere I met the Knights of S. they told me to set them free. I've read the walkthrough about it and went to Ribald at the Adventurers Mart after I cleaned the Sphere, but he dosent have a dialouge option about them... I'm playing a mage.

This problem still exists too after the fixpack.
Am I doing something wrong?

Did you try from an earlier save ?? since the replies are slow in coming I guess we're all stumped :( your bug is not a common one. The only other thing I can suggest is backing up the saves and reinstalling, but I doubt it will fix anything

I dont have an earlyer save, I save VERY often :D
But this sucks!! :( I was getting okay, and now I cant go further....
Could it be that the fixpacks changes only take affect in a new game? :-/

Are you underground in the Graveyard district or above ground. If your above ground waiting on the mage and the doors to open they wont you have to go to the underground place fight some spiders and then you will get to the mage and the doors.

Of course!

the guild is underground, but there are blocked/locked overground entrances which can't be unlocked.

you need to find the one that is open, go down, negotiate the traps and spiders, then end up (at approx 11 o'clock direction wise) where you will find the mage.

the locked door that the mage opens is a hallway top of screen to the left.

it would be easy to mistake which doors to go to if you weren't familiar with the game.

Sorry his problem is a genuine one :( Just to be sure go to Bioware's site and download the latest patch. Generally patch + fixpack kills all the bugs.
I'll try to look up that elusive mage's spawn code so you can get on with your game, but I can't promise that I'll find it or that it will work.

edit: GameFAQs: Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (PC) Creature List by DSimpson couldn't find Haz I'm geussing he's one of the mages but I can't tell which one. Hoefully this gives you a place to start. 35 or so for you to go through

Maybe I'll start a new game to check if it still happens if I start a new one....

Thanx for all the help :)

If your doing a fresh run I would recommend a fresh install with the patch and the fixpack you have, or at the very leat a general save before any area in which you encountered bugs and possibly a save at the start of each chapter.

Is Anomen's Quest Broken?

Hi, I've got a somewhat related question about the Anomen quest.

I read in one of the walkthru's for SOA (forgot which one) that after about 10 days game time that a messenger comes to Anomen to inform him that his sister died. I know this initiates Anomen's knight quest, but it's been 25 days game time since I acquired Anomen in my group and still no messenger. Anyone know if I've got a bug or something?

I've installed the Gibberling tweaks/fixes and the official fixes but no mods from any other source.

Thanks in advance!
