Crazy high Charisma

Post by Harvick »

I'm about halfway through the game and was kinda bored, so I decided to look through my NPCs' attributes and such. When I clicked on Jaheira, I noticed she has a ridiculously high 25(!!) charisma.

I thought it may be due to some magical gear, so I removed all her equipment, but it was still a 25. What's more is that the number was not in red to indicate it was 'buffed' up.

The only thing I can think of is that I had her using a weapon very early in the game that had a description that it would lower your charisma score if you used it. I remember seeing 'Jaheira - Charisma adjusted' comment during a battle, so I removed it immediately, but didn't bother to check the change at that time.

Bug? Or something completely different?

It's a known bug you probably used that item with the ring that sets CHA to 18 correct ?? :D you uglified her to godly looks.

Edit: just shadow keep her back to her base stats if it's bothering you

Not sure if I did that or not, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. I usually give Minsc or my main character the ring of human influence.

I think I'll shadowkeep it back, but it really hasn't been a factor since I don't usually have her talk to any merchants or whatnot. With her 25 charisma, no wonder I'm working so hard to see her unmentionables. (g)

Thanks.

If seeing Jaheira's unmentionables is important to you, then I suppose that you could use the same bug to raise your own charisma to 25.

I've posted before that over 20 CHA is easy to get - ring 18 + blade of roses +3 + helm (glory?) +1 - I have forgotten the other items, but I have managed 25 for a natural CHA of 3!

there is a weapon - I think it may be the rod of terror (available from all good liches everywhere) - that lowers your CHA (% chance) - use it a few times and CHA goes negative. the engine doesn't allow a negative CHA so wraps it around to 25. as it was a magically-caused problem, I suggest that you leave it be. who is to say that it is a 'bug'?

So I presume that you can use the rod to adjust the charisma of all members of the party to anything that you want. Handy! I was wondering about the Helm of Glory. I know where to get it in ToSC. Is it also available in SoA? A simple yes or no is all that I require. If it is available, I would rather find it for myself.

Isn't there a RoT in the room where you get Daystar?

I am currently playing a wizard slayer in BG1 Tutu and have a VERY low charisma. I realise that when I get to BG2, this could be a problem for romances. Since I presume that I will not be able to wear the charisma enhancing ring, I thought that perhaps I could boost my charisma using the "Ugly Stick", but then realised that I need my charisma boosting by at least two to do so. I already have the helm of glory. I was wondering if there is an item that is available to the wizard slayer that boosts charisma by two or more? Anyone know?

Well, Blade Of Roses springs to mind. IIRC. wizard slayers can use magic weapons, right?
Kitchen Witchcraft : Of Magic and Macaroni - a blog about, well, a witch in the kitchen.

They can indeed, but I wasn't sure if they could use that weapon. My memory is a bit hazy on the subject, but I thought that it could only be used by Paladins.

If I dualled, would I then be able to wear the ring?

IIRC you can only wear the ring if you get enough XP to get HLA use any item. So this is not really an option, since by the time you get there most romance are over. ;)

And yes a wizard slayer can use the blade of the roses Click

Yes- eventually. If you dual to a theif, then you can take UAI as a HLA. UAI lets you, well, Use Any Item- regardless of any other restrictions. So your Wizard Slayer could be running around with Carsomyr, casting spells from scrolls, going invisible with the SoM and dressed in Vecna's robe or the Human Skin leather. Whatever you want. It will take a while though- it is a HLA.

Plate of Balduran. Gives only +1 though, anyway with the blade of roses everything should be fine.

I will need that as well, as I have just realised that the Blade of roses bonus only applies when it is equipped and to change my charisma, the ugly stick has to be equipped. Thanks everybody for being so helpful.

Can't you just dual wield them? I remember reading somewhere that a +1 bonus doesn't work, because you get killed for getting a too low charisma.
