Additional Portraits?

Post by TheAmazingOopah »

Can anyone provide me with a link that contains some good additional BG2 portraits? I find the standard selection rather... limited.

These are some bookmarks I've had for the BG series, I believe there are some good links to portraits here.
The Gibberlings Three
Sorcerer's Place - Baldur's Gate 2 Mods Index
Pocket Plane Group - Bending Baldur's Gate 2 and the Infinity Engine
Kirith Entrance
Ironworks Gaming -Baldurs Gate 2 - Home
Baldur's Gate II: Westley Weimer's Mods

Hope this helps, I've got lots of portraits saved from the years of playing, but I cannot remember where I downloaded all of them, sorry.

Thanks for all the links, people :) . I did a search on most of them, but couldn't really find anything to my liking. Possibly I could've find something more or less fitting if I had looked more thorough, but I just wanted to get started with the game, so I picked the *only* portrait that is painted in the same BG2 style like the NPC's and that isn't an NPC: the portrait of the grumpy looking half-orc, with the piercing. I'm not complaining, because having your first go through Baldur's Gate 2 as a Wizard Slayer Half-Orc is definitely not that bad. ;) But still, I think the creators made a big blunder there to not include more of these BG2-styled non-NPC picture. Perhaps lack of time, perhaps lack of artists, perhaps just a stupid blunder. Because as much as I liked the original, more real-life Baldur's Gate portraits, they really don't fit in with the more painted NPC's from the sequel.

On a side note: since I'm a warrior, I've now obtained the D'Arnisse Keep as my stronghold. I've gathered that I am able to collect taxes there (and raise them, which leads to a revolt of the little people when pushing it too far, hehehe:mischief: ), but can I also sleep in there? I guess that should be possible, but I can't find the right bed...

EDIT: Ah, I see, you just have to rest, like in the wilderness. Only here you can sleep in beds, taxed into comfort and cosiness, hehehe....

You can use any pic you like if you can get it to be of the right dimensions. For instance I used a picture of Toshiro Mifune for my Kensai once... Or was that a monk? Anyway... Get a program like the Gimp and you can use any pic you want. The Gimp is pretty easy to use as well. I also think I used a pic of Hugo Weaving in the role of Elrond once...

You can find the Gimp here: GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program

I am involved in historical plays and once used a photo of me dressed as a monk as the portrait.

I took a really good one of a guy in armour which I will also use sometime.
