The Light and Dark sides

When you reach perfection to one side theres a symbol that appears. what is that symbol
(im referring to the light side)

If I recall correctly, there was a symbol that appeared at the left of the alignment bar when you reach either side of the alignment. For me, I was also fully light-side and a symbol appeared at the left of the alignment bar (top-left, to be precise). I think it's more like you've reached light-side perfection or something.

It is to let you know that your character has the bonuses gained to stats etc. from being either completely light or completely dark.
