Highest Level - Spoilerish

Post by davfrahen »

What`s the highest level you can get before TOB? My Cleric/Ranger is 18/16 and I have just got to Sudanessalar. I`ve done Watchers Tower and I believe just about everything else there is to do before the finale. My party includes Jaheira, Nalia and Imoen. (I like magic)
Also, has anybody ever fought with Roenail? I`ve heard there is an occasion where you have to fight him, but it`s never happened to me. All I got was a warning that he might (after you tell him to bog off).

If ToB is installed then the xp cap is the same in both SoA and ToB so in theory you could get to the max level if you hunt down all the respawning monsters etc.

You can hit max level (8.000.000 exp) before starting ToB. Very easily obtainable if you solo your way through the game, although SoA really isn't that much of a challence when you got some million exp up your sleeves. :P

after installing ToB, even in SoA you can get obscenely powerful - WK in particular has re-spawning monsters with lots of xp. for example, if you have Sir Anomen and yourself as a party, having left the others somewhere safe and you sleep in the machine room, you get a lot of vampiric wraiths or that kind of creature - Sir A can make them explode through turning. sleep turn sleep turn sleep turn etc - it gets the points racking up nicely.
obviously, having both characters immune to level drain is handy - the MoD for Anomen and the amulet of power for the PC (well for my one, who was a mage). if you soloed - it would take more time to despatch the undead, even with the improved MoD.

I think that my mage was well over level 20 before ToB.

FWIW I even had Yoshimo at about that level before doing Spellhold...
