Could not find/load text fonts?

Hello i'm new here.

I have been playing the patched (1.02 american ) version of Fallout 2 for some weeks without problem.

Today i click on the icon to run the game and it says:

"ERROR: could not find/load text fonts"???

I read in the fallout 2 technical problems questions & anwers here http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/fallo ... 67053.html and it says i should uninstall the game and manually delete all the files.
I'm at the end of the game...and i really don't want to start again now.
So...can i copy my save game folder to another place of my computer, unintall all, and when i reinstall copy the folder back in fallout 2?

does it work? when do i have to put the save game folder?

Also it says, remove SP2, what is SP2??

i will really be gratefull for any help, i couldn't stand not beeng able to finish the game.

Should work fine as long as you stay with that version and don't patch the game. The saved games are version dependants, so if you use the same version as the older install, the saves should work fine...

SP2 mean Service Pack 2. It's an update to Windows XP. I don't recommend to uninstall it unless you are absolutely sure nothing else works and you know exactly what you are doing, as uninstalling puts your computer in danger in form of viruses and such...
