BG 3- Black Hound???
BG 3- Black Hound???
So on the description for this forum it says that this game actually was supposed to come out but that Bioware abandoned it. I'm wondering, where did you gus get this info from? Any links? And if not did they ever say what the story was about?
I'm not sure about this so I could be entirely wrong here but I think the project that people thought was BG3 was actually turned into Neverwinter Nights, as originally Bioware said you would be able to import BG2 characters into NWN but then decided not to include this feature due to the rule changes.

What happened is that a rumour came out roughly around the same time that the development of NWN2 was announced suggesting that there would also be a BG3 at some point in time. I believe it was in one of the gaming magazines but I'm not sure.
At that time bets were on Obsidian (I think...) to be producing the game, but they later stated they had no plans to make a BG3. This is what I recall from the fuzzy depths of memory, and I'm not great with details, but it's what I vaguely remember anyway.

That is what you can read in Wiki:
"the tentative release year is 2007"
Baldur's Gate III
Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound (code named Jefferson and FR6) was mentioned in early 2001 as a new game in the Baldur's Gate series to be made by Black Isle Studios using a completely new 3D engine.
BG3 was originally going to be a departure from the high-powered epic of the Bhaalspawn saga to a low-key, roleplaying plot. With protagonists progressing to around level four at the end of BIS' typically enormous campaign and a hard cap at level eight, gameplay was refocussed to a flat and wide adventure emphasizing quests over combat. In fact, the game was only titled "Baldur's Gate" due to Interplay having lost the general D&D license to Atari, but still retaining the right to make Baldur's Gate branded D&D games (the same reason as for BGDA's title.)
Unfortunately, the game appeared to be cancelled in 2003, just before its engine was repurposed for Black Isle's ill-fated Van Buren Fallout 3 project. The Black Hound is currently under development as a module for the recently-released Neverwinter Nights 2 computer game, being developed by Josh Sawyer, one of the designers of the cancelled game.
However, in April of 2004 IGN released information that a Baldur's Gate III is in the works. Any other information has, for now, not been released.
According to some software distributors, the tenative release year is 2007, although there is no solid evidence as to whether or not the game is actually in development.

Josh Sawyer formerly of Blackisle is making a NWN2 module entitled The Black Hound.
It is based on the storyline that was meant to be BG3 (project Jefferson).

If it is in development (assuming it will come out this year), then I bet it'll be released around October or November, if not later.

A Baldur's Gate 3 game will not be released this year - if it was going to be released this year then they would already have started the marketing campaign. Further, I very much doubt it is even in development. The only thing close to it that has been mentioned is the NWN2 Module, but this is just that - a module for NWN2. It is not a third BG game.
