Jeanette's pooter/ and a couple other ?s

Post by Stabbath »

Hi. Great game! Anyway, when I was messin around the Asylum and went to the two sisters' (one whacko's) room, there were two computers I could hack (I think), but my skill was too low. I went back once my skill was probably high enough but I cannot access the computers anymore. It's buggin me what sort of funny and interesting things I might have missed. No walk through I've seen gives details. Anyone tell me what can be hack out of their computer?

Also, anyone know what happened to replacementdocs.com? I'm needing a manual, didn't come with the game. I bought it used and kinda got screwed. I heard bad things about this game and didn't want to buy new. Odd, this game is one of the best games I've ever played.

What is the purpose of seeing auras, and what do the various colors mean, if anything? So far all I can figure is it's a way to see through walls.

I'll want to replay this game for sure some time. I know there is some modding that's been done. Anyone give me the name of some good ones? Thanks!

Jeanette's computer can only be hacked when Therese is in the room, and vice versa. After you reconcile the two or off one of them, both computers become inaccessable. When you hack them, you'll find e-mails sent back and forth between Jeanette and Therese arguing about Jeanette's involvement with Tung. Jeanette also has a list of contacts with some interesting names in it.

Black auras indicate vampires or other supernatural beings.
Blue auras in combat zones indicate human combatants who have not yet detected your presence.
Red auras in combat zones indicate human combatants who have detected your presence and will attack you.
In non combat zones, humans have white auras.

There's more to Auspex than just seeing auras, though. It also grants a bonus to both Wits (defense) and Perception (firearms).

The unofficial patches are good for the most part, although they make some gameplay changes that some people don't like. You can find a link to the latest one on Gamebanshee's main VTMB page.

There is now an alternative patch that doesn't include any unneccessary gameplay changes, but I can't post a link to it here due to adult content on the site that hosts it. You can send me a PM if you're interested.

Hacking Jeanette's and Therese's computers - SPOILER!

My advice to you: Don't put any XP points in to hacking.
Unless you put XP points into Wits, an attribute that also increases your defense feat. Don't do it. It's an expensive skill, all you can do really is buy the 2 computer tomes on Trip's Pawshop in Santa Monica to raise it to 2.
To help you with hacking the Malkavian "sisters" computers, here are their passwords:
Jeanette's computer (First, before Ocean House quest):
Contacts: callme
Email: wishes
Therese's computer (Upon return from the Ocean House Quest):
Contacts: business
Email: 1baroness3

Hacking can be a fun skill, but too expensive. Only seduction and haggle are more expensive, because increasing Wits at least increases your defense feat.

PS:
You can increase your hacking ability by activating Auspex before hacking a computer. It buffs your Wits 1-3 points (depends on Auspex level) temporarily. Thought you'd like to know.
