No Music in Fallout?

Post by victim »

Okay, I bought the GSP Fallout Collection with three games in there. I install Fallout 1 it works fine, and patched it up with the US patch. Installed Fallout Tactics, works fine, patched it up with the US patch. Installed Fallout 2 in Full, so it works and it's installed, but I didn't patched it yet. So, I'm playing the game and I hear no music, no sounds or nothing, but I hear little sounds of the creatures and my walking, everything else, but no music.

This never happened on my old computer where I had Fallout 2 work flawlessly ( but I had the bundle at that time ). Now I'm forced to buy Fallout 2 from amazon.com, man. Is there anything I can do to get it working? Is this only with the GSP version, because I've never had a problem with my older one.

Also, I'm running on Windows XP OS.

What soundcard are you using?
Have you tried to reinstall it?
Have you tried to search similiar problems from GB's forums?

Also, you could try to do a search in the forums of http://www.nma-fallout.com

Just couple of things I can think right now...

Oh, and just future note, even though you apologized, please don't double post after day or two even if there hasn't been any answers. Some just may not be able to check this place every day (like me), and those who do maybe doesn't know any solutions...

Sorry there. It was late in the night and my writing was bad. I have reinstalled it, did this and that, still nothing. I've searched mostly all the topics listed, still no sound, but there is music in the intro, not at the beginning and in-game. I'm using onboard sound and it works fine on every game I've installed, even Fallout 1 and Tactics, they're perfect! Fallout 2 just doesn't work correctly. I'll keep looking and checking.

I would also like to tell you that my friend is having the same problem, and Tactics won't install correctly from here. He purchased the same GSP Fallout Collection.

1) I'm pretty sure all the games in the GSP collection are already patched, but you can easily find this out yourself by looking in the bottom right hand corner of the menu screen.

2) GSP is located in the UK, thus the games are UK versions, so you'd need the corresponding patch--if, of course, it still needs patching.

I am having this exact same problem. I have not yet tried the latest (UK) Fallout 2 patch. Has the original posted had any luck in getting the music to work?

Don't take my word on this one, but it seems as if the music files on the game disc are either damaged, missing or weren't installed properly. Check the data/sound/music folders both on the CD and the game directory, there should be 21 .acm music files there.
