Not noob, just dumb! Wizards Spells??

Post by haydox »

I know that as a wizard i can memorise spells from items not just from leveling, and in NWN1 it was simple, i just dragged a scroll into my spellbook (B). And i learnt it, im sure it was that easy!

My one question is, if you havent guessed by now, how on earth do i do it in this game?!

I LOVE my wizard, mage armor, false life and that shield which hurts ppl make me uber! So i really want to know how to learn even more spells :D

Thanks

Yeah, in NWN2 you don't have an item slot devoted to your spellbook. To scribe a scroll, you have to right click, (examine) and the fourth tab from the listing ought to be scribe scroll. Write it down and you're good to go.

Oh, ok, so i need that scribe scroll skill and some blank scrolls.

Once i have a scroll can i just drag and drop into my spell book?

Edit: I firgured it out! Quite simple really!

I read somewhere that wizards could directly copy spells from other wizards spellbooks! No clue how to do this and I suspect it is infact impossible. Guess I'll have to keep a bunch of blank scrolls, memorize, rest, scribe, and pass the scrolls.

And for some inexplicable reason, Sand cannot scribe spiderskin. It says *action failed* or *scribe scroll failed* or something like that. No matter how many times I try, but every other spell I tried works immediatly. I even tried spiderskin first incase it was you could scribe only so many spells per day. No luck.

And just a note- Scribe Scroll (Feat) is something wizards automatically get at 1st level, and it's not required for scribing into a spellbook, Spellcraft is actually what's required for that sort of thing. IIRC, it's DC 20 + Spell Level, so if you have a 4th level scroll you want to scribe, you need to make a spellcraft roll of 24 or higher to successfully accomplish that.

Scribe Scroll has TWO functions:

1. you can use it to scribe a scroll with spell you already know - and it costs money to it! For this, you use the SCRIBE SCROLL Feat button on your Quick Bar.

2. click on the Examine button of a scroll you found; go down to 'scribe scroll' in the bottom of the EXAMINE window, and click on it.
This will ADD the spell to your spell book, if you don't already have it there, and if it is not above your current spell level; you can't, for example, add a level 6 spell if your spell-level is 5. Just keep it in your inventory to add later.

I only found out about this a few days ago myself! And it doesn't seem to matter what your spellcraft level is: at least, I never noticed it made any difference.

Oh, ok. But how is your role calculated? For example, to learn animate dead which is level 4 i will need to achieve a roll of 24, but how do i figure out what my role will be?

Sand is a specialist in Transmutation (I think) So he gave up one of the schools (Conjuration I think) So any spell from that school he cannot learn, or use from a scroll. The scroll would likely be red.
