Andromeda Associations
For various reasons, I don't really want to go into details...
But, I am curious about something. When you hear or see the word "Andromeda" what sort of associations does it trigger. I'm not just talking about obvious ones, I'm also talking about emotional/psychological reactions to the name.
I know this sounds odd, but I promise that at a later point I'll explain
All input is appreciated

The word 'Andromeda' somehow makes me think both of androids, as of some galactic futuristic cyber-dome with swooshing elevators and lots of bleeps. Probably a combination of both. I'm interested what the real meaning will be though, and I'm curious why you are doing this "experiment", DW

It makes me think of a couple of things. First the mythological woman, Andromeda.
Secondly, the old novel BlueSky referred to, although I incorrectly thought of it as the Andromeda syndrome.
Lastly, I thought of the galaxy.
Now you have me intrigued about this, I hope you let us know why you wanted the info soon.

Another old tv series.. bunch of kids and a three-fingered alien. Not ET, but he did try to find his spaceship. And something about a volcano.

lol! Many thanks for the replies so far.
Once more people have responded I will put up a partial explanation of what I'm up to.
But, I don't want to say anything until then.

Let's see... Mythic, Female, Mysterious, Elegant, Extraordinary, Longing, Unattainable. Now that I consider it, my reaction is similar to hearing the phrase, "Dragon Wench."
It makes me think of the vastness of the universe, not unlike when I consider the Sombrero Galaxy. Here are some pictures that illustrate the feeling I am talking about: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/galler ... ge_id=1055
There is also a sense of fragile beauty: http://www.humeseeds.com/efpieris.htm

Those who will play with kitties must expect to be scratched.

The book A for Andromeda, the constellation and spiral galaxy, the Greek myth, but the first thought was of the Sci-fi series based on Roddenberry's idea. It might not have been much good, but I found the actress who played Andromeda to be well and truly gorgeous.

That was my first thought. Second was the user name of a person here on GB who posted a few posts in SYM.BlueSky wrote: Second is the galaxy......

Some Greek mythology if I rembember right. Wasn't there something about she was the most beautiful women loved by ...... some guy I can't recall what name (the one who fought Medusa?) and some god got envy of their love or something, and took her and placed her up in the stars...... well, might be mixing up something here as Greek mythology is not my strong suit (surprise )
Oh and then the Andromeda galaxy.
Oh and then the Andromeda galaxy.
Insert signature here.
Same here as well, though that is what comes to mind first when the word 'Andromeda' is mentioned. The second could probably be some TV series (or show) that goes by that name.BlueSky wrote: Second is the galaxy......
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. My first association was the galaxy, but I'm assuming that's not what you're asking for.
The second and third thing that came to my mind were cheesy science fiction and an unfortunate name for a child inspired by a new-age mentality.
edit: for what it's worth, when I saw the thread title, I thought some association was called Andromeda, and my immediate reaction was "scam" for some reason. I guess I just really don't like the word Andromeda when it's not referring to astronomy or Greek mythology.

Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

If you take that approach I eventually ended up thinking about Jareth, the Goblin King. But I'm kind of weird, soLady Dragonfly wrote:My associative link:
