Next to last level of the Nosferatu warrens, there is the nossie that gets taken out by the Corpulent Claw Couple, right? That's how you get the key to the last hatch.
I saved him! He's just a robot. If you save him, you still get the key, too. He goes back to where he was originally standing, and is completely unresponsive. Not even an NPC. Just a sacrifice.
How? Anaconda and Jaegerspaz. I wasted one of the Corpulent Claw guys in seconds, and the other shortly thereafter. When they're occupied with that Nos, they totally ignore you.
One more example of "it's not actually impossible - just unlikely".
I'm interested in how this affects the rest of the game.

"No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style." Steven K.Z. Brust, "Jhereg", ISBN 0-441-38553-2, Chapter 17, prologue.
Take pride in your ability to save that Noss... because that's pretty much all you can get from it.
Nothing occurs later on in the game to reflect your accomplishment. Only thing is you'll be meeting that Noss model again when you reach the Warren, though it's a different character.
"Being a soldier isn't just following orders, it's following those orders in the service of a higher cause. When that cause is betrayed, we're not soldiers anymore - just pieces on a chess board dying for the wrong reasons." Sam Carter, Deus Ex
Therefore I tried to make sure that he is killed in one of my unofficial patchesBat22 wrote:Take pride in your ability to save that Noss... because that's pretty much all you can get from it.Nothing occurs later on in the game to reflect your accomplishment. It's been over two years now before I found out he didn't have to die, and that because of my increasing combat prowess. I have found out how to go head to head with those things with impunity. How are you going to ensure that Nossie's death? I don't even have celerity, and I can still save him. With celerity, lord only knows what I could do. I might be able to kill the Corpulent Duo before they even get a crack at him. I don't know for sure - never tried it - yet.Wesp5 wrote:Therefore I tried to make sure that he is killed in one of my unofficial patches...

Oh, now that's just sneaky!Wesp5 wrote:Quite simply: For each enemy you kill he will receive damage as well! This was already the trick Troika used but the damage just was not high enough...

IIRC saving Zhao should grant you a small XP bonus; not sure, though, if this is one of Wesp5's additions, as it's been a veeeery long time since I've last used vanilla.

The question remains, though - Does insight remove sanity, or will insight be given to the mad?"

Probably not. I lose Zhao pretty much every time. I used to try my best to save him, but it became more trouble than it was worth. Now I let him die and just focus on saving my own undead hide.Shizz wrote:IIRC saving Zhao should grant you a small XP bonus; not sure, though, if this is one of Wesp5's additions, as it's been a veeeery long time since I've last used vanilla.

That was one of my additions yes. But I wouldn't do this for the Nossie because if he survived you would notice that Troika was just using the Mitnick skin...Shizz wrote:IIRC saving Zhao should grant you a small XP bonus; not sure, though, if this is one of Wesp5's additions, as it's been a veeeery long time since I've last used vanilla.
