Im playing with HoW installed, and it turns out that the 2 iron golems at the beginning are neutral, and i can only attack them by manually selecting the attack button. i was able to defeat them in the corner, however my mage was ripped apart by them instantly several times before i could kill them. after i talked to Bro P and the battle started, I was able to manage fairly well and I kept my party members on the outside. I was able to PW: Silence Belhifet, but it only lasted for a while. Then my 2 fighters started dying after going melee with him for a while, at this point he was badly wounded. My fighters died and there was no hope of resurecting, and Big B continues to whack away at my priest, ranger, theif, and mage. My fighters would have outlasted him, or so I thought, but he just wouldnt get any weaker than badly wounded. I was using haste (but he dispelled half of my party members before the fight) and several other priest and mage spells, but he keeps on killing everyone. Any tips? I even had the difficulty and easiest and he still kills me every time. I would like it for someone to give me a step by step walkthrough for this fight, and could they include helpful buffs that i absolutely need? thanks, heres my party.

sigh...nevermind. I just used Finger of Death as an opening attack, and whaddya know instant kill. Lol, to think I spent all that time And I could have used the most obvious way to kill a demon: high level magic! Well I have to say the ending was really fun. loved this game (first time beating it). I cant wait to get started on HoW!!
edit: btw, whats that item that Big B drops when he dies? I saw it for a second before the cutscene, so I couldnt pick it up. Is it the shard? I would love to have that as a going away present...

It doesn't matter what it is, you can't get it. And yes, I presume it is the Shard.
The dispel traps are the worst part of this fight. Summons are your friends when it comes to keeping your party alive.
You were lucky to get a FoD through Belhifet's magic resistance, but good on you for persevering.

Wow, I finally just defeated Big B. It only took me about thirty attempts. I didn't have enough healing potions(very important). So I went to an earlier save point and bought up every heal potion I could find, plus any other potions i could use.
During battle I would have my party drink a round of potions(giant strength, speed, fire protection, etc.) every time Belhifet teleported away, then after the potions were consumed, you hack and slash again. This method worked for me the very first time I tried. Just remember, I had to keep drinking healing potions the whole time!!
I would like to add that after banishing Belhifet, I loaded up HoW, I was very pleased to see that after I imported my party they were equipped with all their equipment they had before the battle with Belhifet.

Every day above ground is a good day.(Unless your an Illithid)
Yes, the downside of that is that you don't get (or at least can't carry through) XP for beating him. The automatic character export happens right around the cutscene with Everard (before? after? I can't remember and it doesn't really matter).
If you have a high level druid able to cast Stalker, the difficulty of this fight goes down exponentially - shambing mounds have high slashing and fire resistance - because you can entice Belhifet into focusing on the summons, leaving you free to wallop his minions and heal up again (and buff!) before engaging him. No other summons are nearly as demon-resistant as Stalker. It's even more effective with a bard.
This topic should probably be edited to have a spoiler tag. Given the age of IWD/HoW, most players have presumably finished the game by now, but you never know.
