Just beat HoW

Wow, this game was a great experience.

Icewind Dale is insanely underrated. In my opinion, it's in some ways superior to BG (not BG2). You really get to experience the inticities of your party, the battles are fierce....damn, awesome.

and to make things cooler, my paladin slew Icaseracht with Aihnoen's blade. Serendipity, son. For an extra dose of emotion, my mage Horus got petrified and killed in the final battle, but we avenged the hell out of him.

Anyway, this is a great game. Tactically challenging, linear (which i prefer in some ways) and you immerse yourself into your characters and the world. Awesome. Oh, and the soundtrack is raw.

Gratulations to your glorious victory !
What kind of party did you choose ?

I agree with you about IWD being underrated. For me this game is even superior to BG2 thanks to the better story, smarter enemy AI and far better balance, fair but challenging combat instead of unfair encounters and cheese.

If you want another challenge you can try the free downloadable TotL add-on. It's mainly a dungeon crawl but worth a try.

gracias. the thing is, Baldurs Gate and IWD are quite similar. The kicker is BG has it's own NPC's, and while I think this is the game's best feature, IWD introduces you to character customization, and the option to personalize the entire game, to develop your own characters, etc. It started a little slow, but by the Dorn's Deeps, I was hooked solid. It's an interesting trade-off though - personalization or the already well done and developed NPC's of BG. I think that IWD wouldnt be the same with BG's NPC style, and vice-versa. Both worked excellently.

I had a:

Paladin
Fighter
Fighter/Druid
Ranger
Figher/Thief
Mage

I don't think ANYTHING can touch BG2 though; that game is just perfect. But IWD is the closest thing yet. I hope the sequel is just as good.
