Weird graphical glitch (black squares)

Post by Hellbeans »

Hi.

I just recently installed the game after not having played it for about 6 years :)

I'm using the 4-CD version, patched to 1.11.
The problem I'm seeing is, instead of the normal BG'ish fog of war, whenever I distance myself from an area, I see black squares instead.

Plus, when I kill a person, there's a black square under the tile of the dropped items.

TIA for any help.

Quick Update: This seems to disappear after I alt+tab out of the game and back in!
Another one: Software Transparency in Video Options fixes it, but slows the game down.

Oh, sorry I haven't posted my specs:

8800GTX
Cure 2 Duo
2GB RAM
Intel MB

I assume that is supposed to be Core 2 Duo and not Cure 2 Duo in your hardware list.

A good number of older game do not get along with duel core CPU's.

Have a look at http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=983781. Since you don't have a AMD CPU I suggest skipping to Fix #4. That is what I was using and it seemed to work fine. The only catch is that you have to do eveytime you start the game.
