Battle squares

Post by wickerman »

Do you have to beat this in a certain order to get the good weapons and armor? I beat the 1st to 3rd level and didnt get nothing good.

No, the order doesn't matter. All the really good set items are ranks 5 and up. The key items from battle squares (e.g. Wand of Animate Dead, Ice Spear, Club of Disruption, Brilliant Short Sword) are gained upon beating specific ranks. You may have to beat the entire thing for the short sword, not just rank 10.

You won't get much in the way of good armor in the game, never mind in battle squares. The only set armor I can think of in battle squares is Abishai Hide, and it's not that good, aside from some damage resistance.

If you mean you're not getting any rewards at all, remember that you have to complete all the 'levels' in each rank - win three squares, then start again and win 4, then 5, 6 and 7. As far as I know, only after you've completed the five levels of each rank will you get the goodies..

How many times you have to beat each rank? I only beat the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rank only once.

To complete a Rank, you must successfully complete all 5 levels. To do this, you need to complete the square with a different number of squares won. For Level one, you just need a row of three, but for Levels two to five you need more squares.

The pattern continues, winning one more square each time, til you reach Level 5, where you need seven squares. There's a thread here that shows how to do that, if you need help figuring it out.

So to complete a rank, you need to complete the five levels within it, which is 25 fights (7+6+5+4+3) - and to complete the squares, and get Battle Mastery, you need to complete each rank - 250 fights in total. It sounds like a lot - and that's because it is :(

But there are 10 ranks(10 levers in the room) to complete and only nine squares. What do you do with 6th to 10th ranks?

You must complete 5 times in each lever to beat the Battle squares.

For example, with first lever (1st rank), you must beat it five times (5 levels). Each level requires one more squares than the previous level. In first level, you need 3 squares won, in second level 4 and so on.

For example, for the first rank: (X = won squares)

Then you begin again in the same way with second lever (2nd rank).
Just remember to leave the square which completes a row of three wins to last.

You need to complete 5 "levels" (e.g. sets) of the 3x3 square for each of the ranks (each lever). Each level is from from 3-7 battles, and you have to complete every level of a rank to finish that rank (e.g. one "level" or set each of 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 squares) to finish a rank - a total of 25 battles per rank.

Each lever represents a rank. 10 ranks, 25 battles per rank, 250 battles. There are in fact 10 "rank" levers, in addition to the 3 mode levers in the bottom left corner of the room.
