Ok, I'm really not pleased with having to up a skill just to push a brick I can plainly see sticking out of the wall. However, despite that... I'm curious what level of Scout is needed to get through the game? I've seen recommendations on other skills such as Acrobatics and the various Thief skills only being needed up to a certain level. What level of Scout will allow me to spot all the various hidden bricks and buttons and whatnot over the course of the game?
I tried using the Search option, but I couldn't find a post that gave any kind of recommended skill level. Also, this is with the CE version of the game.

If having a certain level in scout is a class requirement, then you of course will have to deal with that. Scout is useful sometimes for spotting enemies that spawn a bit further from you. It isn't all about pushing bricks.
Some classes also offer a learning bonus for scout, so it doesn't cost so many points to raise it. I know Monk off the top of my head and probably most of the rogue classes. Don't quote me on the rogue ones, though...it has been awhile since I had a rogue so I don't remember exactly.
Unless it was required or I otherwise got a learning bonus, I didn't raise it over 5 or 6. That worked for me, but it is hard to speculate what is right for somebody else.
I guess it is like the athletics...some people don't think it necessary to raise the skill above 4, but I found the higher athletics allow the character to survive falls a heck of a lot better than lower athletics. There are some areas in the game that it is quite easy to fall from spots.

I'd raise scout as high as you can for it supposedly determines your mapping skill as well as your ability to locate hidden switches and levers etc.
and if you are not a member of the Celestial Order you will not have access to the Crystal of Vision which enchances your mapping ability. and the ruby ring you get from davenmor castle after the lockdown is only one charge of mystic vision which won't last long enough to suit me so I say get scout as high as you can. same for Athletics, Bargain, Repair, Identify, Steal and Critical Strike if you have them.

Well, two points was enough to allow me to "use" the one I had previously seen in the temple catacombs. However, raising all of the skills you mention "as high as you can" would seem to be a wasteful thing to do. Bargain appears to be useless so far, as there is little to spend money on. But even later, when I need to buy spell stuff, I won't raise it very far unless money suddenly becomes scare... which I don't see happening with spawn rates the way they are, even on the lowest setting. Repair and Identify are the same way... bumped just enough to get the job done. Both the repair and identify systems in the game are incredibly annoying anyway. I've been tempted to give myself a few dozen levels so I wouldn't have to continue worrying about mundane crap. This is why I asked how much Scouting was needed to spot all the buttons in the game. Or more appropriately, what level of Scouting is required to see the last button you find in the game. That's all the Scouting I need.
