Turning Good Guys Into Bad Guys (possible spoilers)

Post by Captain42 »

Hey there,
I have been trying for some time to change Bao-Dur and Disciple into dark side jedi. I read at one forum that you have to get their influence really low to do this and was wondering if anyone had tried this.
My only problem with this would be that you could turn them into jedi but they would be light side instead of dark...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

If you want to turn them into Dark Jedi, you'll probably have to either be lightside, and lose influence, or be darkside and gain influence. Both will be hard, since most of the time when you ARE lightside, you'll actually GAIN influence. And to gain inluence when darkside, you'll have to get some lightside points. It's possible, but not easy.

Influence is the key.

In order to persuade any of your companions to train to be either Jedi or Dark Jedi, you must have high influence with the character. The higher the influence, the more that characters alignment reflects yours.

The easiest/quickest way to turn Bao Dur into a dark side Jedi: (spoilers, please highlight)

1. While you're in the Telos Academy, you'll have a couple of chances to gain influence with Bao-Dur. You'll get LS points for them, but do it anyhow for now.

2. As soon as you finally finish at the Jedi Academy, go directly to Dantooine. Take Bao-Dur with you when you leave the ship. I'd also recommend taking Kreia for the extra experience points she generates but you'll have to remove her from your party fairly soon.

3. Go to Khoonda, talk to the administrator to get access to the Jedi Ruins and Zherron to get the kinrath eradication quest.

4. Leave Khoonda, go directly east (stop to kill the kinrath in the area) and talk to Saedhe and get the sensor quest.

5. Go inside the crystal cave, kill the 1st few kinrath by the entrance, then search the rubble right inside the entrance. You'll find the sensors, and after a brief exchange with Bao-Dur, get him to examine them. He'll find hidden surveillance devices. Tell Bao-Dur "Good job" and get some LS points/influence with Bao-Dur.

6. I usually go and finish the whole cave area at this point (minus the mercenary fight, which comes later) before I exit, but you don't need to - you can exit directly if you wish.

7. After exiting the cave, go to your party selection screen and pare your party down to just you and Bao-Dur. Take him with you to talk to Saedhe. When you talk to Saedhe, select the "Not so fast, we found a little surprise inside of them" option from your dialog choices. Ask him why they were there. He'll then offer more money to keep quiet about it. When he offers more money to keep quiet, refuse the extra money saying "You need it more than me". From this you'll gain LS points and influence with Bao-Dur.

Then you'll have three short conversations with Bao-Dur, take the obvious LS dialog choices. You can do all three standing right there in front of Saedhe. On the third dialog, Bao-Dur will start talking about the positive effect you have on him and you can talk him into becoming a Jedi.

As soon as that happens you can start reverting to the dark side. It will take longer to achieve Mastery, but it's worth it.

When you run into Disciple in the Jedi Ruins, you'll have to give some LS answers to gain influence with him, but again you can overcome it after turning him.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks alot to you also, DarthMalevolent.

I had also recently started a new file, Light Side and had already completed the quests on Nar Shaddaa, forgetting to bring Bao along to gain influence. Now that I know of some possible influence gainers on Dantooine, I'll be sure to follow your advice.

Thanks again, DarthMalevolent.

Just a quick question, are there any other points where I can gain influence with Bao-Dur without overdoing the LS points?
I just did the Dantooine and Telos LS thing and haven't been able to turn him yet...
Again, thanks for any help

Thanks, I just gave Akkere money after I found his hydrospanner and let him off the hook. This was enough to turn him :)
Now I face not having robes for Bao-Dur to wear. I didn't even think about this one....
Anyone know of anything he can wear that will unleash his force powers?

Nope, nada, zilch... darn it.

I usually put him in the Miner's Uniform with a Biorestorative Underlay Mark V, which at least ups his constitution and regenerates VP at 3 points per turn. I find it quite irritating that he can't wear any of the force user's robes - I guess it's because of his arm, but geez, Vader and Pre-Vader Anikin had prosthetic arms...

Try the Jal Shey or Zeison Sha armors... They don't restrict Force Powers but are Light Armor. If I'm correct he should be able to use them.

Fighting with Brianna and then following the conversation options after that (Making sure you get the LS ones that she likes), will get you an awful lot of influence with her, probably the most you can without the little random encounters. Then whatever your alignment is, hers will reflect yours even if you never use her. She's one of the easy characters.
Rebel in decibels, against - what? The same-old, whatever they've got.

Unfortunately, Bao Dur can't equip them either. :(

if you wish to train them as dark jedi take them around with you when you get darkside points and get them right to the darkside and get some influence with them and you can train them as dark jedi straight away
