Soul Gems

Post by eN_CarboN »

Where can I find Grand Soul Gems? I've looked through some Mages' Guild halls but haven't been able to find anything. I'm hoping to make myself a Grand Soul Gem

Edit: And if I want to create my own armour with chameleon does it matter which chameleon spell I buy? Or can I just buy the cheapest one and it will work just as well as the most expensive one when I go to enchant my armour?

If it helps at all: I'm an assassin/theif character working on getting my chameleon armour. I have a spelltrap spell, Azura's Star, and most of the less valuable soul gems. I have access to the Arcane University and whatnot, all I need now is a Grand Soul Gem. I found Dark Fissure. Any help is appreciated :)

If you have Azura's Star then you really don't need grand soul gems. Azura's Star is the equivelant of a Grand Soul Gem except it can be reused.

You can turn Azura's Star into a reusable Black Soul Gem?

Shop around, you'll probably need to buy them. I recommend trying in the Imperial City shops first.

At least one of the mages guild halls has some grand soul gems in a display case, but I don't remember which one. I also think there are a couple in the Arcane University. If you're high enough level (20 - 30+), grand soul gems will occasionally drop as loot, particularly in necromancer lairs. And no, you can't use a necromancer altar to turn Azura's Star into a reusable black soul gem.

I'm guessing you want black soul gems because humans are much more common (and easier to kill) than monsters with grand souls (but they both create the same level of enchantment). On the other hand, grand soul gems are rare, and converting them to black soul gems is a hassle. Since you have Azura's Star, here's an endless supply of grand souls to use for enchanting the most powerful items: (spoiler:

If you become Grand Champion of the Arena, you can fight monsters weekly. If you're high enough level, around 25+, the monsters will be Minotaur Lords, which have grand souls
).

It doesn't matter how powerful your chameleon spell is when you go to enchant your armor. The level of the enchantment will be based entirely on the size of the soul you use.

Some sigil stones also have a chameleon effect, and at high level they'll be better than what you can enchant even with a grand or black soul gem. Transcendent sigil stone will give you 30% chameleon, so you only need 4 pieces of enchanted armor/jewelry to get over 100%.

Didn't say that. I said Azura's star is a reusable GRAND soul gem, Black Soul Gems are harder to find because it involves the mages guild quests.

Sigil stones are found inside oblivion gates. You get Azura's star from the daedric quest for Azura. GB walkthrough of the quest here:

No i found all of my soul gems and many grand soul gems. I just recently finished the thieves guild and am the gray fox. I found all of my soul gems during the missions and kept them in a "Stone chest." A stone chest is just a place i put things in. I catorgorize things in my home so it's easy to find everything. I have many soul gems. But if you don't want to do their missions go to the imperial sewers south side. Then go into the blood works... actually just basically scour out every catacomb, every tomb, every sewer system, every tunnel, and every sub level you will find many on tables near vampires. It's quite easy. And if you don't want to go through the trouble of finding more than one then use the dupe mod on one you find that's all.
games are fun and all but I was wondering when do you get a life?
