Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Windowed/Fullscreen Problems.

Post by Siberys »

I'm having a bit of trouble with Heroes of might and magic 5, for some odd reason it's displaying in a windowed format (I can still see the desktop) yet I've not only reinstalled, rebooted and reconfigured, but I've also looked into the configuration files in both Hammers of Fate and the original HoMMV, and both have fullscreen turned on as well.

I'm burnt out on ideas on how to fix this, but because I play the game in the smallest resolution (due to only having 512MB of Ram), it's impossible to play it windowed as it's INCREDIBLY small.

Any ideas?

Perhaps it is trying (and failing) to apply an unavailable frame rate/screen size combination? Unless you use something like ATI Tools, a number of them may be locked or simply unavailable. I suppose you already tried switching to another..

Hm no, scratch that. If a chosen resolution/refresh rate was unavailable, I doubt the game could pick up on that. I've never seen anything like that in any case. If my monitor should happen to force an unsuported resolution/refresh rate, it just goes black with the message 'out of range'. But that's not my computer giving that message, it's the monitor.

Sooo.. yeah, I suppose it doesn't matter. You can laugh now. :o

Yeah, refresh rates really don't have much to do with the size of a video game at all.

As for resolutions, I've tried the minimum 640 x 400 somethin, and it displays on only a quarter of my monitor as if it were windowed (My resolution for my desktop is at 1280 x 960). For some odd reason, it seems to run just the same if I change the resolution to 1280 x 960 for the game. A cheap fix for now, but I still have no idea why it did this.
