Big Elder Scrolls Fan (game worth getting?)

Post by Micavity »

hello, im new to the forum, but besides that ill get to my point...

i was in walmart yesterday, for about an hour atleast. i was looking for a new game, because quite honestly ive grown tired of all my 360 and computer games...i beat oblivion in a 12 hour day...sad i know but that was last summer lol, but it is one of my fav. games... anyways so i was looking for a game to play, and there where no good $25 360 games so i decided to look at the computer....right away i laid my eyes onto fable: TLC i was so excited cause my cousin has it for original xbox and i thought it was a pimp game...so i picked it up and continued to look around..then i came across morrowind, now ive seen the game before but i never knew what it would be like, until i got oblivion and got an elder scrolls feel...but i put morrowind down and continued to check out with Fable...i got home and installed it....it wont play...my video card wont support some pixle shader or whatever....

So my question to you is: Is the game (morrowind) worth the money if i bring fable back...
Question 2: do i need any advanced video card features? cause if i do then im not gonna go buy the game

Thank You

It depends on the type of games you like, but many people here will tell you that Morrowind is *better* than Oblivion.

Be sure to get the Game of the Year edition though, it includes both expansions.

How old are your computer and video card? Morrowind has been out since about 2001 (I think), but it can still require a lot of resources, especially if you start installing player-made modifications (there are 1000s and many are excellent).

You ought to be OK then. How much RAM do you have? It is generally recommended that you have a minimum of 500 megabytes of RAM.
Also what model of video card do you have? Mine is fairly basic but it does have pixel shading, and my computer a P3 with 384 MB RAM. I'd like to get more RAM, but it is really difficult to find RAM in small quantities these days (I can't support more than 500).
On that sort of a set up, MW runs tolerably well, and I have *a lot* of mods installed. However, load times can be long and on occasion my framerate slows to a bit of a crawl. The freebie RAM optimizers I downloaded help considerably though.
Also, I'd advise you to turn off any adaware or virus scanners while playing.

Also, I suggest to search one mod which will remove some "unnecessare" objects from landscape, which makes the lot faster in older computers. I have quite crappy computer, but it works very well with dozens of mods after I installed that cleaning mod.
