NPC Levels when joining

Post by PolyMorphVZ »

Ok, so I know that the PCs current XP affects what level a NPC is when they join your party for the first time. But does the same work for NPCs that you dump and then invite back later? I did a little testing using shadowkeeper to up my level and it doesnt look like it. Although I cant shake the feeling that one time i picked up jaheria with her being lvl 14 once.

Does anyone know how it works? will their levels change after being droped from the group when a new chapter happens? after so many days?

I have asked before, but didn't get much response - what I do know is that there are usually 2 levels that the character can join at.

on that point - if you take the symbol of lythander away from Sir Anomen and take him from the party, when you invite him back he has been given another - also happens when turned to stone or imprisoned and returned.
that way, he can have 2 holy symbols or you can pass one to another cleric -I once had Aerie and Sir A both with 2 holy symbols !

the chapter issue may be relevent although I don't know what the thresholds are.

I think Imoen finds extra thief levels from somewhere if you don't rescue her until later on - she certainly seemed more adept when I picked her up a few days back.

I believe that the game does that once, when the npc first joins the party. Also at the beginning of ToB everyone is given additional experience.
