I suspect it is the following:
For the harper quest Jaheira leaves you to do her duty as a harper. She will get back (not sure if your not suportive) and the quest will continue (you could sleep through it if you don't want to do things whitout her). Note that if you romance her you also have another timing isue. Search for Jaheira romance on this forum for more info on that.

You said or did something wrong that made the harpers attack you. Jaheira will not help you fight her own organization. Consider carefully why this is, are you trying to force your way into their building?southernpurple8 wrote:" (name of player), i am a harper, i cannot fight by your side against my own but i will not take part in this! i... i cannot side with either. goodbye."

If not, some more info would help. Are you in or outside the building? What is the name of the NPC you are talking to.

SouthernPurple8, to get that comment from Jaheira, you had to give a answer to the previous question that made her unhappy. There's an extensive (VERY extensive) document that you can download over at Sorcerer's Place that explains in excrutiating detail how the four Bioware romances proceed. This document can help you move along any of the romances and avoid any potential mis-steps.
For example, (without serious spoilage) to help advance the Jaheira romance, it really, REALLY helps to take your rests outside, in the wild. A number of the "love talks" are triggered by resting in the wild. I'm currently playing a BG2 character that's romancing Jaheira and the romance seemed stuck in the mud, even though I KNEW that I hadn't screwed anything up. My problem was that after leaving the Underdark, I hadn't been resting in the woods, and the "next" love talk required an outdoors rest to get triggered. (Ooops.)
Another one, near the very end of the Jah romance in SoA, the final step in the Harper subplot doesn't get triggered until something like 1 hour of real time (not game time, but honest to god REAL time) after the previous love talk. And this is ONLY if you have a rather good reputation. If your reputation is not so good, the romance document claims that this final encounter could get delayed as much as 10 ***DAYS*** of real time after the previous love talk. (Holy crap! 10 days!!! That was certainly my reaction, when I read this.) Since I knew that I was at this particular step in the romance, but was nearing the very end of the story, I "cheated" it a little. I paused that game and went downstairs to get supper, and came back after an hour of so of real time had passed... And presto-chango, after unpausing, the much-awaited encounter triggered immediatedly, even though the game clock was unchanged, due the game being paused for all that time. (Very strange, but the romance document proved to be very accurate.)
So ... the (non-spoilage) keys to advancing the Jaheira romance are 1) be as nice and thoughtful as possible with her, and 2) sleep outside in the woods as much as possible (she is a druid after all).

Southernpurple, please don't post successively, especially just a few minutes apart. Edit your former post to include your latter, in the future. Thanks.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

The romance guide is entitled "BG2: SoA Romancing Guide by Extremist" and is 171Kb in size. Not particularly large for a download, but it's a rather large (over 100 page) Word document that is an extensive guide to the romances in BG2.
Regarding whether your PC being female will impact this, oh, probably to some degree. But I think that the guide actually covers the "non-romancing PC" situation when discussing Jaheira's Harper plot. Check it out.
