Good Weapons Available (with locations SPOILER ALERT), and Not Available..

Post by Scottg »

SPOILERS AHEAD! WARNING!

Here is an alphabetical listing of weapons I specifically did NOT see throughout the game (and I spent quite a while on all significant chests - each chest). Below each section in parentheses are weapons I did find through a moderately exhaustive search of loading and re-loading saved games on decent chests. Your results may vary (..perhaps even considerably).

PLEASE see Kathy's list - it is accurate, while mine is not. In particular many of the high level weapons appear to only be from a chest or chests in the final Demon's Realm. Chest(s) I never saw. Still, whats the point if you only have the weapon for the final fight sequence?

NOTE: My Version is the CE/1.5. IF you are playing another version there is a very good chest in the Drake area in Arindale that has now become a "Shack" for CE. That specific chest could well have several items that were not seen through my version.

Because of the High Level Weapons that are "missing", I'd recommend this strategy:

Use the Editor posted in the Forum's "sticky" thread to add an item..

http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/dunge ... 72087.html

BUT:

1. ONLY at the start of new character creation, because it doesn't work latter in the game, and do to various other problems reported.

2. ONLY add those items to inventory you think you will not find in-game (like the ones mentioned here, OR if they are effectively class restricted like the Winter Shuriken and you are not planning on going that class route)

3. Appropriately restrict your use of that item. IMO don't use it until at *least* you have access to moonbridges. Perhaps sell it after leaving the sewers/theater and using the proceeds for leveling via Minotaurs in Skulldoon.

Axes:

Axe of the Forsaken
Double Winter Sickle

(..the Golden Axe I did find but only at the final "Maze" weapon chest)
(..Winter axes were available in several locations, particularly in multiple chests in the Naga Temple.)

Bows:

Bow of the Avenger (in Demon realm at end)
Bow of Vines

(..the Winter Bow only appeared at the final Maze weapon chest)
(..the necrotic bow showed up there as well, but also in the 2 heavy sword chests - 1 early on in the Druid Temple upstairs and 1 mentioned in the walk through section in the ruins area of the Druid Temple.. it was also available in the left hand chest near voraatuss's real tomb in the Tomb of Souls and in the left hand "fiend" chest there.)
(..venom bow purchasable from treetop vendor in Ariendale CE/1.5)

Clubs, Daggers, and Hammers - you can find through the walk through or with other posts..

(Winter Dagger is a particular favorite early on - Lost Lake, 2 chests in Fathien's Keep, and elsewhere as well. Necrotic Dagger in Custard Mansion hidden room 2nd floor right hand side of the building)

Kama's:

(all available)

(the "Flame" from 2 or more chests in the Naga Temple - particularly one with 3 chests and a mimic)
(the "Void" only from the same two high level weapons chests in the Tomb of Souls - one near the real voratuus tomb and the other near the "fiend")

Maces:

(all available)

(the Great Totemic Rune Mace only from the Maze Chest)

Poles:

Golden Fumata-Yari (who would want it though?)
Scythe of Winter (in Demon realm at end)
Soul Haverster (in Demon realm at end)
Staff of Magus

(Angelic Destroyer - only available via tomb of souls selection as in the walk through.)
(Blood Reaper drops from one of "Mog's" crew in CE/1.5)
(Demonic Impaler only in the Maze chest)
(Golden Cresent Poleblade in at least one chest in the Shadow Ruins area - specifically remember it from the "secret" elevator cache in "Kingston's" area at the end of that section)
(Nether Impalers droped by Druids in the "Vale")
(Winged Destroyer available from either the two good chests in the Druid Temple and much earlier via the "boss drop" from the Valkyrie class quest)

Sais - who cares.

Scepters:

Scepter of Storms

(the Scepter of Shadows is only a drop from Nausoleum at the end of the Shadow Ruins)
(most others could be found fairly easily, particularly in the Naga Temple, but also in the Shadow Ruins)

Staffs:

Staff of Summoning

(All other *good* staffs were spec'ed drops as mentioned in the walk through)

Swords (Light):

Not a *really* good sword to speak of here.

(..sword of speed might be useful for a light dual wield in the off-hand early on for light dual wield characters (see walk through Ariendale).. better moving to the "Void" kama latter, and specificaly the "Void" IS better than the golden Wazashaski found in the same two chests in the Tomb of Souls))

Swords (Medium):

Demonic Katana (in Demon realm at end)
Divine Bladerelic (in Demon realm at end)
I don't think I ever saw the Golden Katan.. but I did see the Katana of the Sun (see below)

(Azure Sword - found all over the place, particularly in the Shadow Ruins)
(Blade Relic of Flame - found in only one specific chest near the "boss" of the Druid Temple)
(Bladerelic of Night only in the Maze chest)
(Katana of the Sun - same two chests in the Tomb of Souls)
(Jade, Radiant, Topaz Swords - found in the same chests as the Azure sword)
(Winter Katana, Maze chest and via "boss drop" from the Ninja Lord as mentioned in the walk through)

Swords (Heavy):

Bronze Ripcleave (no real loss though)
Demonblade of Athulla (not that great)
Demonblade of Baal
Demonblade of Charrus
No-Dachi of Night (in Demon realm at end)

(Blade of Death only as an option in the Tomb of Souls as mentioned in the walk through, note that it is in the "rare" chest listing near the start of Kathy's list)
(virtually all of the good level 7/8 swords can be found in the two chests in the Druid Temple.. Burning Crystal Great Sword, Diamond Light Great Sword, Emerald Great Sword, and Saphire Great Sword)
(Master No-Dachi and No-Dachi of Winter only in the Maze chest)

Thrown Weapons:

All available.

(Shuriken of Night - this is a class quest from the guild of mystery)
(The Golden Shuriken on the "boss" for the Shaolei class and in the secret chamber in Kingston's area in the Shadow Ruins at the end)
(Venom Shuriken found in multiple chests along with the ice dagger partcularly from the lost lake and 2 chests in the Fathien Keep, ALSO a random drop on higher ninja/deathlords in the "Vale")
(Venom Throwing Dagger only from drops from high level bandits in the Forbidden area)
(Winter Shuriken ONLY from the "boss" in the Monk class quest - a shame as it is the best ranged weapon in the game AND if you go the Monk class quest route you can use it to great success against the "Elders" in the Elven Trials).

Note that drops like the Winter Shuriken are EXTREMELY difficult to get - they MUST be "armed" (have it in their hand) by the opponent when they die. So save your game right before the Coup de Gra!

two other potential non-weapon items of interest:

Shield of Defender ONLY in underwater chest in Tomb of Souls

Ring of Void ONLY in trinket chest in "Maze" (wrong.. see Kathy's list)

Well I hope that Helps a little in your quest to create the best DL character. :)

Oh, and please feel free to correct errors.

Ring availability...spoiler alert!

Very nice of you to take the time to make such a detailed list. :)

Spoiler:
I did want to mention that my boyfriend and I play multiplayer often and we found the Ring of Void in the trinket chest in the drake breeding grounds west of Arindale. Of course it is a pain to reload the chest several times to get it with drakes breathing down your neck, so probably better to play with that chest after the initial group of them is dead.

Regular Bladewitch armor can be found in Ulm (not the bladewitch promagic, I have never found that.It can be edited in but is listed as a weapon so it comes into the inventory in very poor repair as you can't specify values for it like you would normal armor.)

Good caveats about the use of editing in items. Too much editing can make one very spoiled. (IMO) However, I made a post back in December regarding keeping the amount of advancement points and experience points equal which prevents the loss of levels when editing. I detail that in the editor thread.

There is a treasure list in the game folder, I found it when I was browsing around in there a few months ago. It gives the locations of where things are and what the different possible contents of chests are; as well as shopkeepers inventory. (Most shops do indeed sell things based on the player character's guild association.) The list is a bit odd looking as it isn't meant to be read casually, but after reading through it a few times I was able to get a better understanding. I will attach it to the post, and if somebody wants to be spoiled....then it will be upon them whether they download it or not.

*edit*
Where it says "Druid" in the list, it is referring to the Daedroth temple in the Vale of Ruin.

:)

Thanks for the List! I wonder though what the first few chest #'s represent?

Indeed - Druid Temple = Daedroth Temple in the Vale of Ruins.

I went through the drake trinket chest like a "gazillion" times and never saw the ring of the void. Bummer.

Another item I think is "moderately" critical is the +10 to damage bracer - its located only in one of the 3 major chests in the "palace treasure room" in Fargrove, and I believe is ONLY available (with a key) during the walk through's 2nd Fargrove listing. (..the +20 damage bracer is only a sisterhood class quest, as mentioned in the walk through.)

Note that for those with CE, postings here on previous versions (and the walk through) suggest that you can get the sisterhood quest for the +20 damage bracer WITHOUT taking a tier 2 sisterhood class. At least for CE/1.5 that is NOT the case. You MUST take a sisterhood class to be given the opportunity for the quest that provides the +20 damage bracer.

Here are a few other things I did NOT find:

Celestial Spell: Regeneration
Rune Spell: Anti-Magic BARRIER

(these are certainly 2 items I would be adding back in next time I play the game.)

(..and I never determined what exactly the rune forge was supposed to do - if anything.)

For the Bladewitch Pro Against Magic Armor:

Arc Angel has the answer here:

http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/dunge ... 80981.html

It also appears to be listed as a "Druid" chest item.. but I never saw it, on the other hand though I was never looking for it either.

I'm also still wondering about that Staff of Summoning and the Staff of the Magus.. My memory could be significantly "off" with those two items. It would appear that it is indeed off when looking at the list! Mon Graci!

Looking through the List you provided Kathy (..its AWESOME, saves me a lot of questions) :D

Ah... Chests in the Demon Realm, never saw them - and at that point it was kind of moot anyway, what a RIP! Who on Earth would want to wait until the last 1% (if that) of a game before getting the weapons they desire?

Ah, good to know about that Bladewitch promagic armor. I have a quest right now to head out and rescue Sister Talya from Mr meanguy, so I can see what comes out of that chest. I once got some demon armor out of it in single player, but I get so impatient that I only re-load about 3 times and then settle for whatever comes out. My bf is willing to spend literally hours at chests to get something.  That is when the editor kept the peace for us.

I completely agree with you regarding the availability of high end armor and weapons. It would have made more sense to make those things available so the player can actually use them for more than an hour or so. I think they should have made drops by monsters and bosses better...sure renegade demigoths in Forbidden lands drop alot of stuff now...but how many pairs of chain leggings or plate shoulders do you really need???

It is a shame because there are so many fun things about this game...but oh well. Glad the list is helpful even though it is a bit odd looking. :)

Swords (Light)
Not a really good sword to speak of here?
are you kidding me?
for swords that are classified as light I suggest you try the following.

Kris Blade: 12 str required as well as like 1-3 light weapon skill
Bronze Kris Blade: 20 str required maybe 8 light weapons skill I believe.
Kris Blade of Darkness: 24 str required paralyze 25% 9 light weapons skill needed I think maybe 10.
Divine Kris Blade: 28 str required and maybe 10-12 light weapons skill is required Pro vs Undead I think it means that it hits more damage on undead.

You reminded me of something. I had forgotten that I had edited in the Elven Darkblade because I wanted to try it out and it is extremely rare. It requires only strength 14 and light weapon skill of...5. That's it, just 5. It is a very nice sword and such a shame that it is so rare. This description is taken from GB's Dungeon Lord's equipment database.

Elven Darksword
Special: Paralyze 25%
Skill: Light Weapons
Damage: 6 - 12
Range: 5' 6"
Strength Req: 14

Kathy, I'm glad I could help jog your memory ;)

yes there are a lot of good weapons for all types. but how many are there that do not require magic weaponry? for unless you are a mage or adept or are a rogue who is a trickster and maybe then a cabalist or maybe an enchentress and war witch willl you have access to magic weaponry.

The equipment database is a good resource for that information:
http://www.gamebanshee.com/dungeonlords/equipment.php

Through some quick reading it appears that none of the light swords require any skill in magic weaponry. That's just light swords, there are plenty of light weapons that are magic weapons..for example every sceptre is a magic weapon. If somebody doesn't choose a class that utilizes magic weaponry, they are kind of out of luck. Of course they can still use the weapon and it will do damage, it just won't do the magic damage. There are some good weapons that aren't magic, but some of them may be a bit harder to find...or only available during the last part of the game. For example the Demonic Katana is a medium weapon that looks super nice:

Demonic Katana
Special: Critical Strike 10%
Skill: Medium Weapons
Damage: 6 - 24
Range: 6' 0"
Strike Bonus: +5
Strength Req: 35

But to my knowledge it is only available from some chests in the Labyrinth.

Opened this chest several times(more than 20) and finally got some bladewitch. But it was the regular, not the pro magic. Anyone gotten the pro magic from this chest??

I re-checked the treasure list in the attachment from my earlier post and apparently the Bladewitch Promagic is found in the Daedroth temple. The chest by "Sister Talya" in the Forbidden Lands seems to only dispense regular Bladewitch armor.

Scottg: in Skulldoon there is a npc who will lend out an item called the Thundering hammer to anybody who is a demigoth as in wylvan, thrall, urgoth, or zaur, because any others are too scrawny or so he says.

and you can add a litle zing to the thundering hammer by charging it at the rune forge

Bladewitch ProMagic

While looking for Dragon Gloves, I found the aforementioned armor in the northern chest, past the totem trees and before the island where you obtain the first shadow crystal.

Now for the life of me, in CE, I can't find any chests in the Demon Realm. Where are all these UBERweapons in the demon realm?

That's the only place I hacve ever run across the baldewitch pro magic is in the chests past the walking trees. And only after I have killed all the trees and not just walked through freindly like.

Nope. Not kidding.

No *really* good weapons. (note the emphasis).

It was a good point that most of the really good weapons require magic weaponry. But hey, *really* good weapons require *really* good skills.

Note however that most of those that do not - like all of the light blades, are not particularly effective against tougher opponents. Paralyze a bandit - sure, it happens about 1 in 4 hits. Paralyze The "witch" 1 in 4 hits, NO WAY. This is why I specifically mentioned the sword of speed as being useful, its an augmentation rather than a strictly offensive bonus.

By the way - I thought that my character was *given* the elven darksword somewhere in the eleven lands?

Hammer's are well documented in the forum (and the walk through) - definitely a couple of good ones, one of them *really* good.

The sad fact though is that there isn't a single weapon in the game that is terribly useful against the final "boss" (demon realm, end of game).

Also, I never found a chest in the Demon realm either.

I doubt it, it is quite a rare weapon. Additionally, it requires only strength 14 and a light weapons skill of 5...so no real high skill level either. But most of the good weapons aren't like that of course...which may have something to do with the sword being rare.

You can get the Elven Sword of Speed for completing the Argalia/Ulm quest, and you can find (or purchase if a fighter's guild member) the Elven Bloodsword around the Elven lands, in addition to just the regular old Elven swords.

*edit* Two locations of the Darksword are the Labyrinth and the Shadow Ruins.

Ah.. the Sword of Speed was the one I was given..

I do remember trying out the Darkblade vs. the Necrotic Dagger.. didn't notice much difference.

In fact, with the exception of relatively low level opponents, I didn't find Paralysis, Bleeding Wound, or Sleep to be of much use. Poison on the other hand still offered some "bite".:mischief: Stun was also still useful (though certainly less than the percentage offered - again, when used against tough opponents).

Ah.. I see, there is an Elven version: Darksword, and the Kris version. :o

I don't think I ever found the Kris version (..or if I did I never used it). But the Darksword seems to be a better sword, so I would think that its comparable. So while I can't be sure about the Kris version, I'd bet that it is every bit as ineffective as the Darksword against higher level opponents.

Hey Scott:

I think the Darksword is better too, because it does comparable damage, plus it has lower strength and light weapons skill requirements. I don't know which *very* high level creatures it is not as effective with...but it works nicely on Moonbeasts and Firedrakes. But hard to say, because the only way I have gotten it is by editing it in and I tend to feel guilty about that, so don't go very far with those characters. :o
