Hi, I've talked to Staroxia and she hasn't given me that code phrase to unlock Grymlok's memory. I've talked to Grymlok and he's totally bewildered.
What triggers that code phrase?
Instead I'm in the Shadow Ruins. Thought maybe that would help somehow...
I'm really wanting to get to the Vale of Ruin to finish my Shaolei Master Class Quest.
How, Thank You, to thou respondants.
Staroxia/Grymlok?
I think the Staroxia/Grymlok bit is tied in with the main plot. So you might need to do some stuff for Vartugg in Skuldoon first.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

To be perfectly honest, I have climbed over the fence in Skuldoon and talked to Staroxia before ever talking to Vartugg at all. She does give the information to talk to Grymlock but you have to sit through an awful lot of dialogue to get to that point. It is tempting to just click on next or whatever to get her to hush, but you really should listen to everything she has to say. Grymlock's part of her dialogue is a good ways in.
Please note: I am by no means suggesting that you should bypass main game quests... you shouldn't. It will mess your game up. Nor am I suggesting you play "fast and loose" by doing things not in the "traditional" order. By all rights you do need to do things for Vartugg before ever speaking to Staroxia. I did that fence jumping thing just to please myself....However, I did play through most of the game twice in a far more "orthodox" way, so I had an idea of what I was doing.

Haha, I finished the Shadow Ruins, got the Shadow Amulet, and brought THAT to Staroxia, and she was like, Hey, there's this guy you just HAVE to talk to so you can get into that Vale of Ruins! Like, Wow, Man...
So at least my idea worked...
The reason I wrote this thread is because I have been using the Walkthrough Summary as a faithful guide, and it told me to do the Vial of Blood before the Shadow Ruins.
It's all good, now. Kinda.
I have been increasing stats instead of skills. I've been trying to understand the bottom of the Character screen. Between left and right stats (Hitpoints, Strike, Speed, etc). Left Column must be Current Value, Right Column must be Maximum Value.
My Maximum Speed is +272 but my current speed is like +124
My Maximum Damage is +60 but my current Damage is +50
Been wondering
(a) How to get up to that +272 Speed
(b) Will that value actually make a difference in combat?
(c) If my Damage is +50, why do my Ninjutsu strikes do like 14 damage?
(d) Will increasing Ninjutsu move me towards that +50 Damage?
BTW, when I made Shaolei Master, I had saved up 7million points, and dumped them into Ninjutsu and Critical Strike and saved the game on a different save slot. I am doing more damage, but nowhere near 50. Why bother to have that score if it is not true?
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

I think this means you do +50% damage, not 50 extra points of damage.Darryl wrote:(c) If my Damage is +50, why do my Ninjutsu strikes do like 14 damage?

Hi Darryl:Darryl wrote: (a) How to get up to that +272 Speed

a.) Speed is increased by upping your character's agility. Different races have different levels of how fast they can be in addition to starting the game with different "base" levels of agility. Thralls, Wylvans, (+10 to speed) Female Elves,(+7) and Zaur (+5) all start with higher agility than the other races....well, Female Humans start with +2 to speed, so I guess they count too. Silly human females.
You can also get items that add to speed...both the Bladedancer ring and the Sword of Speed are rewards for completing the Argalia quest and both add to speed. There are other items too, but it is hit or miss if you find them.
b.) Does it work in combat? Well, yes. The differences are there...a newbie character shoots a bow a lot slower than a more advanced character with high agility.
Combat includes fighting with spells. I have noticed the character gets off spells faster...what the exact rate of comparision is (between high and low agility and spellcasting) not really sure.Agility determines your character’s speed and reflexes in combat. Characters with high Agility can strike and defend faster than those with low Agility.
