Unable to cast protection from magic on Demonknoght.

Post by wise grimwald »

I have just been playing a solo illusionist through BG1, and though there was no real reason to do so, thought that I would see if I could take out the Demonknight at the top of the tower using scroll of magic protection with just the one character. However, I was only able to cast it on my own character and not on the Demonknight. I have recently re-installed the game using the DVD set and have also installed the UK patch. Does anyone know if this problem is due to the version of the game, the version of the patch, or some other problem as, whilst it doesn't really matter for a mage, having that unusual helm could matter for another character?
I don't know if it is relevant, but there appear to be a few other changes, one being that there was only one mirror fiend at the bottom.

The scroll of protection from magic was patched in the latest game versions. The spell wasn't meant to be casted on others, even though its game text says otherwise.

If you want to restore the prior behavior, you'll probably have to remove SCRL07 from the Overrides directory.

Thanks for the advice. I think some killjoy doesn't like people like me not following the script. I actually find that discovering ways not to follow ithe script is great fun.
