Forgive me for breaking the fourth wall, but if you're willing to go through all this trouble, why don't you just use the CLUA console and mod your stats that way. Seriously- if you're willing to tacitly cheat by exploiting a game glitch, then why not just suck it up and spam some books to pump up the Cha?

Exploiting is one thing, cheating something entirely different, it's a matter of principles.
It's just fun to outwit the gamemakers by using things in a completely different way then they intended to :D

Forgive me if this is blunt, but that's a load of bupkis imo. If the game worked correctly the rod would keep stealing Cha and your character would die when he took of the ring of Human Influence. However, because of the game limitations, your character magically becomes more chraismatic than any other living being (except a nymph, maybe). That's a game mistake, and exploiting it is the same as "exploiting" the clua console that the designers created. Six one, a half dozen the other.

Let me also say that I'm a big fan of cheating. I like having God-characters. I like manipulating them. For me fantasy games are fantasy, and I play as I wish.

I actually agree with Tovam that there is a difference between cheating and exploiting. Like Tovam I get quite a kick out of discovering ways of exploiting glitches. However in this case I have discovered that there is no way round the problem. I cannot dual wield because the stick is a two-handed weapon.
In addition, if you are a wizard slayer, you don't get the charisma bonus with the armour. Since I am still in ToSC I could cheat by importing a Tome carrying Mule but don't want to do that. I think that I will just have to admit that I am beaten, and either forgo the romance or use the character as a second party member. As has been said by others, you can't win them all.

I'm not so sure that it is a game glitch. The programmers must have known what they were doing when they chose to wrap around the attributes. I could be wrong, but it could be that they deliberately introduced the ugly stick to make sure that the romances could work for any character.
