Help!! - "Invalid character - player login failed"??

Post by flint724 »

Hi. I'm in the part of the game (chapter 1) where i've found all 4 reagents and Aribeth is transporting me to the ritual chamber. For some reason when the page reloads I get this big list of 'pregenerated' characters or soemthing, and a pop-up box that says "Character Invalid - Player Login Failed" . My character is actually there, but he's back at level 1, and i've lost all items, my henchman, my skills, everything. I don't play on any networks with other people or anything (I don't know how...) and I haven't used any cheats or stats-amping things. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix this?? Help would be much MUCH appreciated...

Did you edit your .ini file to allow for the Debug Mode and then mod your character with the CLUA console? If you did, you have to edit a line in the .ini file to allow illegal characters by changing a 0 to a 1.

Does that make sense?

LOL. I have no idea what any of that means, so I guess I didn't do it. Actually I just fixed the problem (I think). I updated my game from the main menu and it worked after that! It's always the simplest things isn't it... I had no idea that update option was even there.
Thanks a lot for trying to help though, I really appreciate it! I was freaking out.

No worries flint. If you'd tried to access the CLUA console, you would have had to do some editing in one of your game files- relatively simple, but there's no way you'd know how to do it if someone didn't tell you. How do I know this, you ask? Well, I edited my game and then got the same error you were getting- very frustrating! :D

I'm glad it all worked out. Btw- welcome to the forums! Hopefully you will enjoy your stay.
