Question about unofficial vs "true" patches...

Post by shadow9d9 »

I am about to play Bloodlines for the first time and am unsure about whether to install the new "true patch" or the latest unofficial patch.. additionally will I need to use the official patches first? Thanks.

You still need to install Troika's official v1.2 patch before installing either of the unofficial patches. I posted a quick description of each thread in this news post. New versions of each patch have been released since then, so check the latest patch notes for each before deciding which you'd rather use.

Also when you have decided which patch suits your needs the best, you will only need to install the latest version of that patch (after installing the official 1.2 patch first) and not the previous versions.

As I'm the creator of the unofficial patches I would recommend starting with the basic version of 3.7 as this fixes much more than all the "true" patches while still being true to the game as it was released. After that you should try the full unofficial patch to see what has been restored that wasn't finished on release and what could be tweaked for better gameplay.

Is the basic version an option when installing the unofficial patch or is it a separate download?

It's included. You just apply the normal patch and if you want to go basic you only need to extract one directory more on top of it.
