I am the point in the game that I can turn into the Slayer at will. I read here that when I do I lose rep points. I noticed I lost some when I couldn't control it. At first I didn't know why, that is until I used the search feature and read it. Now that I can turn at will, does that mean I won't turn uncontrollably? My rep went down to 9. I was concerned because I am playing a Paladin. So once I left the Asylum I went to the temple and "bought" some rep points. I got myself up to 12. I was at 17.
Also has anyone used the Slayer?

The Slayer form is not a toy  But here are some tips&hints when you should and when should be avoided:KRYTON wrote:I am the point in the game that I can turn into the Slayer at will. Do not turn into the Slayer in any hard situation. It is pointless, since you will die anyway. If you feel that the control is "slipping up", the next second you may end up dead.
Do not turn into the Slayer when challenged by Sarevok in Hell.
You may wish to turn into the Slayer in order to open the specially-locked doors in the Illithid area in Underdark(Eastern Tunnels). They can, however, be opened by mind-controlled MindFlayers. But to control such a beast is not a simple feat. They are 100% MR. Anyway, there are four necklaces there which put the Flayer under you control. Actually, not only a Flayer. Anything that does not have immunity to Charm, can be charmed with no save for six hours via these circlets, bypassing Magic Resistance. Nice, huh? There is also a Staff of Command in one of the rooms there - with 21 Domination charges. So, my advice is that there is a good option of either trying to Lower Resistance + Dominate the two needed Flayers in order to save 2 valuable necklaces which will come in handy later, or take the Slayer form in order to open those doors for the same purpose.
If you're playing a solo-character SoA only - then you might want to take the Slayer form in the last battle to defeat Irenicus. It is still risky, though.
In ToB, the Slayer Form is IMO must-avoid. You have enough skills, items and HLAs in order to overcome anything. And if you cannot - well, turning into the Slayer won't solve your problems.
Some small spoilers ahead (S.S.S.A.

IIRC, you can make four of those circlets. They can be quite fun, pity I couldn't use them on the solar, and send it on the fallen solar...
@Saros, why do you say "in a hard situation, you die anyway"? Is it because the slayer has lower AC, or something, or you just die because you changed into it? As a sort of punishment? So far I have never played a char that would use it, so i didn't use it...
