When Ordinators Attack! (possible sidequest spoilers)
When Ordinators Attack! (possible sidequest spoilers)
So I hunted down the Dunmer lady with a Dagoth dagger and killed her. Ordinator chief offers me a reward, I chose the Belt of the Armour of God instead of the Indoril helm and cuirass. I already had an almost complete Indoril armour, with only the cuirass missing. I thought, hey, why don't I just taunt the ordinator in Jobasha's shop and take his armour. So I taunted him, he attacked, I killed him and took his armour. No crime. I always wore a robe, and I didn't wear the helm while I was walking around Vivec. I checked if the Ordinators would attack me. I talked to some and aside from their usual rude demeanor, none attacked. I went back to Balmora to sell the parts of armour I didn't need and when I returned to Vivec for another mission, ordinators attacked me on sight! Does anybody know why this happened? I tried walking around naked, and they still attacked me. Does anyone know of a way I could go around Vivec without killing all the ordinators? I noticed one ordinator in a smith's shop in the foreign quarter didn't attack me.
Die, bastard.

From what I understand the Ordinators are sort of like the Borg... If you kill one it registers into their collective consciousness and they *all* end up knowing you've attacked one of their own.
I would suggest returning to an earlier save. There are ways you can acquire Ordinator armor quite legitimately. I can think of a couple of Imperial Legion quests that will provide you with at least one full set of the stuff... and there is also a Temple quest that will allow you to grab some. After that, providing you have not killed an Ordinator on your own provocation (taunting included), you should be able to wear the armor around Vivec, unless you actually speak to one of the "brethren." They must be short-sighted under those helmets or something... so much for "We're watching you scum."

nah, what happens is once an ordinator gets beat down, he tells his buddys on that canton... still cant go threw the arena, st. delyn or st. olms without them chasing me... and once they get pist at u, theyre pist for good
u could use chameleon, but ud need a good amount to walk around without sneaking, 60-70% probably would be good. im a fan of calm spells myself best to load up a save tho unless u dont mind 40-50 longblade xp per trip to vivec

I don't ever actually remember being foolish enough to take on an Ordinator head-on, even when my characters were kickass. >.> Something there just seemed to suggest to me that it was, all things said, a very bad life choice. I just ran them from them when they auto-aggroed me (i.e., on some story missions).
SPOILER
I found -MY- set of Indoril Armor during one of the mission where you're trying to make all of the Ashlanders name you the Nerevarine. You had to visit that castle-type thing and get the goblet, weepings and the other thing to prove that you were enough of a warrior to be a clanfriend.
Well, appearantly the Ordinators had tried to take the place themselves, and there are a few corpses there with full Indoril Armor, down to the shield. I only took a few bits though (IIRC, the Helm, gauntlets and the chestplate). But it was an entirely legitimate looting of the corpse of a holy warrior.
Also, there are a few other nice rare items you can at least fence there.
END SPOILERS
I figured out quick that if you have Indoril Armor, don't ask the Ordinators for help. Just don't talk to them and you don't have anything to worry about; but I've had a short of on-off experience with the whole Borg thing. I've once given a quick hit to one of the Ordinators, run off to another Canton where they don't bother attacking me, then ran off to a third Canton where the Ordinators in the plaza chase me down. Dunno why.

Nope, you don't need them. HOWEVER, there are quite a few of them in Vivec and they're nasty. You probably don't want to just run around antagonizing them, especially considering how difficult it might be to run some of the quests in Vivec with them aggroing you.
If you have a powerful character though, and you have no other recourse, feel free to start hunting them down. I have a special hatred for Ordinators, myself.

No they are generated npcs. Like all guards they have one of about 5 codes and are ramdomly chosen.
About the armour. The helmet and curiass are sacred. Talking to an ordinater for anyreason while wearing one will cause ALL of them to attack you one at a time (for me any way) and nothing more can be done.

In my own gaming experience, the Ordinators will stop attacking on sight once you complete the main quest... even if you enter into dialogue with them. I found the same to be true with the High Ordinators with Her Hands armor in Mournhold.
Oh, and for those of you who hate Ordinators enough to hunt them down... try exterminating all of the named guards in the Ministry of Truth... good times there.

They all have the same ID and are set to respawn. Like all guards. There is no need to have multiple codes.AmpaSand wrote:No they are generated npcs. Like all guards they have one of about 5 codes and are ramdomly chosen.
Yep. The script is only attached to the cuirass and helm.Severion wrote:Really? So if you were to wear an entire suit of Indoril armor sans cuirass and helm, they wouldn't attack you?

Great. Now I'm some kind of ordinator serial killer. I have this ritual after murdering an ordinator in which I leave his clothes and armour on the ground beside his body, in a specific order. Hehe. And I leave the torch near the head. I never dispose of the body. Hey, maybe this is why they attack me?
An off topic question, some veterans will probably think this is a stupid question but I'll ask it nonetheless. What's up with the binding spells? Bound cuirass, bound katana, etc. What happens when I activate it?

Die, bastard.
But you did it once? If so, without a mod/using the console (PC only) that's it for you...Mordred wrote:I tried walking around Vivec without the Indoril armour and they still attacked me.
And bound <item> gives you a weightless daedric item of that type - bound dagger gives you a weightless daedric dagger, for example.

There are two types. Stationary and wandering and the rest are quest related.
This is coming off topic so if you still have a problem with it PM me.
