House Furnishings Help

Post by broodking »

Hello out there, I recently purchaced the small shack on the waterfront but before going to it I bought furnishings. When I got to the shack it had table, chairs etc. Do the furnishings automatically go to home and set up when you buy them? because i do not know how to activate them. I know its a newb question but i am a newb!

As soon as you buy it, it's delivered and set up automatically. Nothing to activate. The only thing for you to do is put the "receipts" for the furniture in a cabinet if you don't want them cluttering your inventory. If you want to see the "before and after" effect, you need to go to the place while it's empty before you buy the furniture.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

Dont you usually have to go to the house before buying the stuff in order to activate the furniture aspect of the "quest", if you get what I mean.

Nothing to do...

First of all, welcome to GameBanshee, broodking
As Belthan pointed out, you have to do nothing except purchase the furniture kits for your house. Had you entered the shack prior to buying any furniture you'd see a basically empty room. What you see in the shack now are the lowly furnishings you shelled out hard-fought gold for. I expected more for my money, but hey - it's a shack!
DARK SAGE aptly pointed out that the purchasing of the house activates a 'quest' to fill the house with furniture. I don't think you have to enter the house to actually activate this feature. But what kind of quest is that anyhow? I played Oblivion to do more important quests than real estate management taskers. Perhaps it was the game designers' method to inform the player that previously furniture for the house had become available in the merchant's inventory.
It would be cool if you could pay more to 'upgrade' to really fancy stuff so on the outside it looks like a shack but inside it looks like something from Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Imagine being able to upgrade the shack itself bit-by-bit so you could eventually be the proud owner of a 3 level mansion on the waterfront complete with wine cellar and live-in wait staff. There's probably a mod for this...
